Question about Maytag MGR5729 Kitchen Range

1 Answer

F1 or A1 error

We may have possibly took a power surge and now our Maytag MGR5729 gas range has what looks like an A1 error on the display. buttons beep but won't do anything. The right side of the "A" is a little fainter, so I guess it could be an F1 error.

Thanks for ANY help.

Display says E2 and F1

Hello there:
The F1 Error On a number of ranges this can mean a number of things, the most common being a failed ERC(EOC, Clock assembly)or a faulty touchpad. Firstly if you are using a recent Maytag range it may pay to test the oven sensor as described above as this may cause an F1 error if faulty (may apply to some other ranges as well) this is not a common cause but is worth discounting. To check the ERC and touchpad
  1. Disconnect the power
  2. Gain access to the back of the ERC
  3. Disconnect the ribbon cable that connects the ERC to the touchpad
  4. Check nothing will short when power is reconnected
  5. reconnect the power and switch on
  6. Watch for F1 and listen for the beep
  7. If you get the F1 and the beep this means the fault is with the ERC and it will need replacing
  8. If after 30 mins you do not see the F1 error and hear the beep, replace the touchpad

Now as far as the f2 this is regarding the temperature sensor that is possiably bad once you have the f-1 corrected this other code may go away but if it doesent then you will need to replace the temperature sensor of the oven ok

What is an F1-8 Error?

Hello there
First your f-1 error code

  8. If after 30 mins you do not see the F1 error and hear the beep, replace the touchpad
And the 8 error is also conclusive along with the f-1 meaning that the erc or electronic range controle is faulty and should be replaced

F1 locked on oven display and will not shut off

The F1 error code is usually for a bad touch pad or ERC(clock). To verify if it is the touchpad or the ERC that is bad you will need to first disconnect the power to the range. You will then need to open the back panel of the range to where the touchpad is located. Follow the ribbon connector from the touch pad to the ERC and carefully unplug it. Then verify that there are no wires that will ground and cause a short. Plug the power back into the range and then watch/listen. If you get a F-1 and a beep then the ERC is bad and will need replacement. If after 60 minutes you do not get the F1 error then replace the touchpad. A few of the Maytag models use a combonation touch pad and ERC as one. If that is the case then you will not need to verify if the touchpad or ERC is bad because they are one unit.

Maytag gas oven quit working

Sounds like the ignitor is bad. They get weak and stop opening the valve completely so it may cause the gas smell.

F1 Error Code

F1 generally means the touchpad or ERC (Electronic Rage Control) is bad. This is what Maytag recommends as a simple test that you can do to determine whether the clock or the touchpad are defective when the display reads F1: - Disconnect power to the range. - Gain access to the back of the ERC (electronic range control, or "clock"). - Unplug the touch pad ribbon connector from the ERC. This will be a flat wire about 1 ½" to 2" wide. - Make sure everything is clear and will not short out when power is turned back on. Replace any covers removed to gain access to the ERC. - Turn the power back on to the range. - Watch for the F-1 and listen for the beep. - If you get the F-1 and beep, replace the ERC. - If after approximately 60 Minutes you do not get the F-1 fault, replace the touch pad. NOTE: Some models incorporate the touch pad and the clock control as one part so F1 = bad clock control. I hope this may help you, but it looks like you may have an expensive repair. Double check your wiring just to be sure.

F1 Error Code on MayTag range

migs, on a Maytag the F1 indicates there is a problem with the touch-pad or control itself. Usually, it's the touch pad. Try killing the power to the range and remove the touch pad ribbon from the control board. Clean it with an eraser. Power back up and see if the error comes back. If it does, remove the ribbon cable again and power up with-out it attached. If the same error still returns, then I would suspect the control board itself. Catriver..post back.
