Question about Apple iBook G3 Clamshell (M2453B) Mac Notebook
I have ethernet because I have cable internet on my desktop pc.. I tried plugging the ethernet cord up to my apple ibook g3, but it won't connect to the internet.. I don't know what to do and have NEVER used mack before today.. Please help!
To connect to Internet with cable:
1. Turn on your computer.
2. From the Apple Menu, select System Preferences, and select the Network icon. Click on the Built-in Ethernet connection, and then click Configure.
3. The Show drop-down menu should be set to Built-in Ethernet.
4. Click on the TCP/IP tab.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

If you have an active account with an ISP connecting should be somewhat automatic. Open Safari or IE and see what happens. Mine opens to Apple Home Page as default. From there do a GOOGLE SEARCH to your ISP for your E-mail. Also try opening UPDATES in Sys.Pref. See if it goes through that way. When it goes on-line download FIREFOX web browser. I switch between two Macs and a PC. Firefox works great with all of them. It is free and has better security than the others. If all fails, call your ISP customer service. They get paid to figure this stuff out.

This seems to be a regular problem with old G3 Ibooks . Mines a clamshell that was fine for a while but i think the ethernet port breaks on then . Try getting a ethernet to usb converter like i plan on doing today.
