Pioneer head unit plays in accesory mode, but not when vehicle is fully started

A buddy of mine recently bought a 93' geo tracker to run around in. the kid he bought it from hooked up an older model pioneer head unit sometime before my friend bought the vehicle. the problem he is having is that the unit gets power, but only produces sound when the key is turned to accessory mode, and no sound when the vehicle is started up. any ideas?

He tapped into starter wire instead of accessory. Remove radio and verify the switched power (red) wire is properly hooked up to an accessory wire that stays on after vehicle is started.
I believe the wire is white/black behind the radio. Check with a voltmeter to be sure.

for the wire codes to that vehicle.

Check the radio fuse in the vehicle fuse panel. Also check the inline fuse on the back of the head unit. This is assuming the unit does not power on at all now.

How to fix radio in 2004 durango radio won't play if i start engine without waiting for sound before i start engine. Now my daughter plugged her ipod in without waiting now it does't work at all

My suspicion is there is an issue with your vehicle's electrical system or the radio is poorly wired. It should not matter at all whether the radio is playing or not when starting the vehicle. If, while starting, your alternator is kicking out too much voltage, this could possibly put the Pioneer into protected mode meaning it would produce no sound.

I suggest having someone connect a DMM (Digital Multi-Meter) to the battery while you're starting the vehicle and see what voltage it's producing. It should be somewhere between 12-14 volts and after starting, be no higher than around 14.8 volts. If it is higher, get it checked by a mechanic.

the connections between the unit and cars battery are wrong!you must connect the yellow cable with the continuous battery+ cable and the red with the acc switched battery+cable.there is already made adaptors.try to a local accesory shop.tell the brand and model of your stereo and the model year and brand of your car and they must have the right stuff for you!

What colour wires do i need to use to wire up rear speakers on a pioneer 2000mp headunit

should be listed on the unit itself, however if youre attempting an install there are vehicl specific plug-n-play kits available that cure these headaches with out breaking the bank, and they can be found starting around 10.00 and you dont need to hack up your factory harness to install after market equiptment

Can't fit subwoofer amp leads to pioneer DEH-2000MP Head unit

pioneer head units only distribute like 200 rms or so to the speakers. you might have to find a blue maybe even blue with white striped wire and nick it just enough to tie your amp wire around it. tape it up and see if it works.

The ipod is supplied with a USB out cable and the head unit is USB compatible. It has a USB out.Connect the ipod "out "cable to the USB of the HU and switch over to USB mode on head unit. Switch on the ipod & play . As for erahs problem ,these pioneer head units have "switchable"AUX modes. with the power "off"(the HU power off)press the multicontrol at the centre for 3/4 seconds.options like "language etc will b displayed .AUX will be one of the options .select it ":on".now u can play your ipod through your head unit .

Red wire Pioneer MP 2050?

yes you can. but you risk battery drain in the long run. the ignition switch provides that feature for you... doesnt the old head unit have the wire for that? (red and yellow)
