How to reset tv

hi Tracie,
is the set making a clicking noise?
is the power light flashing on the front?
or no power light at all just dead?
if the set is just dead, just put your ear to the back vents can you hear like a very faint screaming noise and can you smell and burning in the vent?
if so it just could be capacitors on the power board.
if its clicking the that will need a service kit on the power supply board.
if the power led is flashing then you will need to count how many flashers from start to finish when you first turn set on.
hope this helps.

Hi! Thank you for your help. I have a Samsung TV

Hi Doug Rudnik,

First of all thank you for contacting Fixya.com regarding on your TV problem.

You've mentioned that you can hear a sound for 1 sec and then the unit immediately turned off and there's a constant red LED lit. The symptoms you've described indicates that the main board of your unit is working fine and it automatically shuts off because it sensed malfunction on image boards. The constant red LED means that it is on standby mode only.

Now, since you've replaced the power supply board but still the symptoms persist, then the suspect is either the X or Y sustain board but high chance that the fault came from the Y sustain board based on my experienced. Y sustain board is located on the left side of your unit while the X sustain board is on the right side if you are facing the rear cover. These boards has a ceramic fuse(white color) and pico fuse(looks like resistor), please check the continuity of the fuses to determine which board gone to malfunction. If you found an open fuse to Y-sustain board then you need to replaced it. Blown fuse means that the circuitry on its line gone to excessive current.

I would advice you also to inspect the electrolytic capacitors on these boards. Most of the time loud pop came from a blown capacitor and has a physical indication of fault like bulged/dome at the top and can be easily identify through visual inspection. It can give you an idea also which board gone to malfunction. See sample picture below of faulty electrolytic capacitor with bulged dome at the top.

Here's the link for X and Y sustain board.

X sustain board

Hope I've gave you an idea what's going wrong to your set.

Have a nice day and take care!

Kind Regards,

Is totally dead. First, I received blinking led, but right now, nothing. Si habla espanol, mucho mejor para mi, si no, puedo conitnuar en ingles.

Hi Eduardo,

First of all, thank you for contacting Fixya.com regarding on your TV problem.

I'm assuming here that your TV's model no. is TCP50S2. Most of the blinking LED on Panasonic TV's has a corresponding error code let say the led blinks 5 times(won't turn on), it is a 5 Volts malfunction either on the P board (power supply board) or on A board. Some of the blinking led error code are related to faulty electrolytic capacitor on the power supply board. It will dropped the normal working voltage of the power supply and will disable the unit. Faulty capacitor most of the time has a physical indication of fault like bulged/dome at the top and can be easily identify through visual inspection. Watch the video below for more info.

In your case, you've mentioned that the TV is totally dead set now, this is an indication of fault either on the P board or on A board but most cases I've encountered a faulty P board (power supply). I've suspected that your P board gone to multiple parts malfunction aside from the capacitor.

If you are going to DIY, I would advice you to check the output of the P board using a multimeter to confirm its condition. Once it has a missing voltage, replaced the entire board. Click it HERE for the P board's replacement.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

Ratings and feedback are highly appreciated!

Kind Regards,

No power

HERE'S THE ANSWER TO YOUR PROBLEM:

The main reason why your TV won't turn on is because of its power supply board. This power supply board are composed of capacitors that are the responsible for the proper supply of current to your TV. If one or many of these capacitors are already burned out or "dead" your TV won't turn on at all. Here's what you've got to do:

1. Open your TV or let somebody do it, much better a technician.
2. Check the Power Supply Board.
3. Check the capacitors. Remove the "dead" ones and replaced it with "new" ones. You can buy capacitors to the nearest hardware in your town, or to your service provider.

I would suggest you to do it with a presence of a TV technician, so that you will be guided properly. Thanks for your question. I hope it helps....

Tv dose not come on

HERE'S THE ANSWER TO YOUR PROBLEM:

There is only one culprit that you can blame with regards to this problem - your TV POWER SUPPLY BOARD. The main function of this board is to control the power supply of your TV. It is where the a/c cord is plugged in.

One of the reasons why your TV POWER SUPPLY BOARD does not work well are the capacitors. These capacitors are found on the power supply board. If one or many of these capacitors are burned out or dying, your TV will not turn on anymore. So here's what you've got to do to solve this problem:

1. Open your TV unit and check your POWER SUPPLY BOARD.
2. Replace / remove the dead capacitors you can find on the board. You can buy capacitors at Ebay.com or Amazon.com.
3. Or, you can call your TV Technician or your Service Provider to do the job for you.

Your problem is solved! Thanks...

I have aVizio VX42L HDTV10A. was watching a show when we heard a loud pop. Then all went dark. Would not turn back on. I took off the back cover and found the ceramic fuse was blown on the board # DPS-283AP...

This means you have a dead short, It is probably a Diode in the power supply area, but without testing board you don't know. If you know basic electronics, i would say check all diodes in power supply and look hard for something burnt and replace that also. Or just replace power board, check shopjimmy.com

I just replace convergence board on my akai tv and

There is a burnt capacitor somewhere in the unit. Look for any burnt or swelled up capacitors. You can also usually locate a bad cap if there is burn marks on the system board. Also test power supply with voltmmeter to make sure it is a constant volt reading.
