You can't get the front off , you have to open the back to get to it or to clean it

Pro-710 clean front screen and crt

If the pic on your CRT RPTV is bleary, its front viewscreen is not the problem, and no, your set is not worn out even tho it really looks that way.
The solution is that the internal optics need to be cleaned, due to the high voltage inherent in CRT use. Remember how your old, thick computer monitor would get incredibly dusty on its face? That's because of the HV ionizing all nearby particulates and charging them with static cling. They then drift to and deposit themselves directly upon the closest smooth surface - in the case of CRT computer monitors, the face of the monitor. In the case of CRT RPTVs, the mirror and lenses. In other words, at certain very critical points on your 28 surface optical chain that comprises the CRT RPTV's projection light path.
Optics cleaning should happen once a year without fail, otherwise you're really not getting your money's worth out of your multi-thousand dollar set. And CRT HD ready RPTVs are classics, with 20 year service lives.
On some units only 4 surfaces need to be cleaned, like Mit. On others, like Pioneer, 10 of the 28 surfaces need to be cleaned.
But be very careful, these lens surfaces are made of very soft, vulnerable plastic, and are very easily scratched or - even worse - scuffed, which is thousands to tiny scratches at once. The mirrors in HDready sets are front surface or mylar - you are not cleaning glass at any point, with these sets.
As such you need to be painfully careful, as damage is immediate and permanent. I recommend contacting me directly before doing any optics cleaning on any projection set, esp. CRT RPTVs.
But oh, what a difference a day makes! This can all be done in a day, after which your CRT RPTV will look like a new TV again!

My pioneer sd-533hd5 is 8-9 years old. how do i clean the lanses?

You should be able to access it from the back panel. After you remove the panel, the lenses should be mounted on a platform. If you are careful, you can manuever yourself in far enough to clean the inside of the display screen. Good luck!

Pioneer SD-643HD5 HD set up

Yes a simple cable will do it. Look for a converter designed to display a computer vga on an HDMI jack. I have one, and would expect it to work in reverse. My cable has a male VGA like a computer monitor cable.

How to get to mirror and lenses on a pioneer SD-643HD5?

unplug tv. Remove 4 screws from bottom of tv in front right below speakers on right and left side. Bottom panel slides up and out. Don't disconnect just rest panel on front of tv. Remove two screw at bottom of trim strips on each side of screen. Each one of these strips will slide down and remove. Last piece to remove is trim strip at top of screen. There are no screws to remove. The whole piece simply slides to the right about 2" to 3" inches then will unlock from mount brackets. Pull towards you and slide up and off screen. carefully lift screen up and out of bottom brackett. Top trim piece may be a little tight. Just tap on it with the palm of your hand and have somone pull on strip from other side.

Black levels off

My quick and easy solution was to clean the dust off the lenses of each CRT.

1) Unplug TV
2) Remove the back panel.
3) Wipe each of the three (plastic!) lenses lightly, with a lint-free microfiber lens cloth. Do not use anything that might scratch the plastic lenses.

Other than that, you'll need to hire someone to adjust your gray scale tracking.
