If this is working before do a system restore.

to do this press F8 while computer is booting boot from safe mode.

from safemode start>programs>accessories>system tools>syetem restore.

then restore it to a state that when it was still working fine.

hope that helps.

Tapping F8 key during bootup and get the window to run in Safe mode with networking.
When you login to administartor to window destkop.
The following is the procedure for a 'clean boot'. I am assuming that you have XP. If you have a different OS, just let me know and I will send you the appropriate procedure to boot clean in that OS.

1. Click Start --> Run --> Type MSCONFIG --> Click OK 2. On the General tab, choose Selective Startup 3. Uncheck Process SYSTEM.INI file 4. Uncheck Process WIN.INI file 5. Uncheck Load Startup Items 6. Click on the Services tab 7. At the bottom, check Hide All Microsoft Services 8. Uncheck all boxes in the window or click the button labeled Disable All 6. Click OK 7. Click Restart
After restarting, reinstall the downloaded software. Next, do the following:
1. Click Start --> Run --> Type MSCONFIG--> Click OK 2. Replace checkmarks in the items that you previously removed them from. 3. On the General tab, choose Normal Startup 4. Click OK 5. Click YES, when asked to restart your computer
Hope that helps...Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.
Regards,
Ellin

Ok, now unplug all the external devices connected to PC.. then restart it.

Check it run in normal mode.

Otherwise keep trying to press F8 to get in safe mode.

If it fails, then try F2, ESC or DEL each one by one during reboot (TO go in the BIOS Setting)

Change their boot Priority, and also enable ACPI power management.

Let me know if you are able to get desktop screen.

Then follow the method of Clean boot advised earlier by me.

    Regards,

    Ellin

Otherwise call the Service engineer From acer or the dealer from where you purchase it (since warranty expire if open yourself)

Acer m1640 factory restore

Format the drive, then install an operating system such as xp, or windows 7 .... it should install most of the correct drivers. You may have to go to the manufactures website to find the exact drivers for the video and sound cards., but that should pretty much return it to factory settings. If you are really picky and have the bucks, you can contact ACER for the original disks.

Installing windows xp into acer aspire m1640 need help the computer is falling to boot intead is showing a blue screen

The blue screen represents your Windows XP hasn't failed to install but has crashed and given you an error. The only way to fix this is to restore it to the original Windows and than try again. This mostly happends with boot leg copies of Windows XP and speaking from experience your better off buying the disc from the store so if this ever happends again your covered. If you DID buy the disc, then talk to your supplier and they should give you a new copy or install it for you.

Hope this helps ^^. Please don't forget to rate, Thanks

Cannot reinstall new os, seem my hard drive is not detected by os

I hope its not Vista os, because if the driver is not in its database, it does not accept any new driver. Install XP first and run the Vista Upgrade adviser from microsoft to check whether your PC hardware will run Vista....sodeep
