Question about Lexmark Printers & Copiers

My series 3400 all in one is not communicating with computer. I installed and re-install driver quite a few times with same result, check mark is beside icon in control panel, I unpluged pwr cord and usb cable same result, the printer is fairly new and was working fine up to the time I uninstalled it from another computer.The computer I'm trying to get going is a new Acer notebook aspire mod. 5735z. Printer lexmk x3430. thanks

Did you have the printer unplugged from the USB when you were installing it? If its plugged in this can cause this sort of problem. What operating system are you using? How long have you owned the printer exactly? Once I have more information I can assist you further. When you have a moment please accept and rate my solution accordingly.

Hav x3470 an installed with 3400 series cd.prints great but will not scan an doesnt hav a all in one center,is the 3400 cd the right one?


Yes, the installation cd has the All-in-One Center software. But, if you have already used that to install the software, I suggest you download the updated driver from the Lexmark website. Here's the link: http://bit.ly/c9GW5Y. Choose the correct driver compatible with your computer's operating system. Download and install the software. Hope this helps. Dont have installation cd for lexmark x3400


If you are running Windows XP or Vista, you may use the generic driver for Lexmark 3400 series. All you have to do is to connect the printer to the computer and let the computer detect it. If the printer is not a Plug-n-Play device, the computer would allow you to manually select the generic driver.

The printer will not communicate with my computer


With the Lexmark printers communication subsystem you MUST let the driver ask for you to plug in the printer. DO NOT plug the printer into the USB port until told to do so.

To fix a fouled install:
(1) Uninstall the Lexmark drivers in Add Remove Programs
(2) Shutdown the computer
(3) Disconnect the printer from the USB port
(4) Restart the computer
(5) Run the Driver Installation software
(6) Cancel ALL attempts by windows to auto install the printer
(7) When the software asks for the printer connect it and continue

Computer will not communicate with printer


I had this same problem...drove me crazy for a week. Called the geek squad at Best Buy and they mentioned something about a"patch" (which I had no idea what that meant) on the website of the printer. I went to Lexmark website, and selected 1200 series and windows vista (which is what's installed on my computer) A page came up to install a driver that made the two compatible and it worked!!!
