This is definately the sound chip that controls the sounds , stereo , mono , and the stereo sound from any device that might be plugged in
this chip can be replaced , but the repair cost might not be worth it to you , as they charge alot to diagnose the problem on top of the repair cost

Check that the balance is not set all on one channel only in the sound settings menu.

There could be a few issues. It could be the speakers themselves. I believe this tv has an audio out. I would hook it up to a stereo and see if it that improves it. It could also be something internal like the amplifier. You have a couple options but I would just use a stereo for sound. If you still need more assistance let me know. Please take a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly.
Thanks,
Lee

Also have you changed the audio settings back to the defaults in the audio menu. Maybe those options have been toyed with If that is not it then you will want to use a stereo or get the tv repaired.
    Thanks,
    Lee

Recently replaced direct tv receiver and now tv has poor sound quality -- a slight buzz.

The receiver is junk, or you may need to call DTV and have them trouble shoot the receiver.

My tv stuck on mono how to get off mono

On the original TV remote press the "AUDIO" button until it gets to the option "MAIN" and this should get the stereo sound back.

Good luck...

Hi, I sent an email regarding the issue to OnCorpus (the company who makes ProScan)

This is what I got back:

---------------------------
Thomas,
Follow these steps to correct humming issue:
1. Turn tv on
2. Input mode should be tv
3. Turn volume to zero
4. With remote enter 9 8 7 6
5. A menu will appear on left side
6. Arrow down to backlight and with right arrow key move number from 81 to 83, press menu button twice,
7. Turn up volume and listen if hum is gone.

I can't confirm if this works at this moment since I don't have access to my TV.

Akai model lct2721ad. tv.

Mine does this all the time. It appears to be a factory flaw. The only way around it is to set the channel you are watching to "MONO" and the crackling sound will disappear.

This is just a guess but the dolby sound on my system is bad however when I switch to regular "stereo" sound it improves. See if your audio set up has a choice of sound and try them all.
