Question about JVC AV-48WP30 48" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Convergence problem? i have a JVC AV-48WP30 48 in. Rear Projection Television, and im having a similar problem as someone else. "The picture comes and goes out of a stretched picture. The top and bottom form semi circles. Pointed towards the top and bottom so that the middle gets pushed together and the edges are stretched. I don't know if I am being descriptive enough. I have had the TV for 4 years. I just thought of a good descriptor. It makes the picture look like a horizontal hourglass." the only difference is that when i try the convergence, all the plus signs seem to be aligned. i have never had this problem before until i moved a kegerator next to the t.v.. could this possibly be the problem?

also, it does this in spurts. ill turn the tv on and it will be okay then and hour or so later it will turn hourglass, then a few minutes later it will go back to normal only to repeat itself a little while later. what do i do????

Not unless the Tv sneaking some kegerator juice while your not there??LOL It sounds like a Main b+ filter or possibly the convergence IC and is not user serviceable. With all the hi-voltage inside these sets its best for you and the set to call in a proffesional to do this type of repair. Sorry i couldnt assist you more with this repair.

The intermittant hour glass thing is not a normal deflection on the screen . If it were a normal looking picture with red, gree and blue ghost, then I would say do a convergenge alighnment. But No, none of the internal parts are serviceable by a non service person as there is very high voltage in these sets even when they are unplugged. Good Luck

The STK392-110 are the stock ICs for your JVC. Chances are one or more of the feed resistors are bad. JVC TVs will usually have at least one bad resistor when the original ICs fail
