No luck after the cleaning. I can hear the servo motor during startup, but the after a few clicks it stops at track 1 and then displays the (no) Disk message.

Have you tryed cleaning the laser lens with a lens cleaner?? The fact that it spins tells us that the unit is focusing but not reading the proper data. Good Luck

If that didnt help then your problem is most likly a tracking or focusing problem and is not a consermer serveable item, as there are special equipment and tools you need to operate and alighn these pups. Sorry its time to see the repairman or a new one.

My CD player keeps displaying no disk and wont play the cleaner disc, is something dirty or broken?

If it does not play the cleaner disc, just inspect whether the disc inserted in spins inside it. You can check this by open the upper cover of the player, and inserting a disc into it. If inserted disc spins inside, and the player won't read it, the fault is with its laser pickup unit, and it should be replaced with same type and number.
If the disc dos not spins, the fault is with the sled motor [the motor that spins the inserted disc], has damaged, and should be replaced. OK.

My dvd player wont read my movies

Check its Sled Motor. Sled motor is one which get spins the disc we insert into it. If it is faulty, discs won't spin, and the set won't read anu discs, and will show no-disc display. OK.

Spins CD but displays"read " but plays nothing

Hi, this is CD lens assembly failure. the len sits in a lens assembly that has a motor that allows it to travel along a rail. this is how it reads the CD in motion. this assembly has failed and , you will need to replace this mechanism in order for the lens to be able to read once more.

Technics sl-pg580A

this player uses a philips mechanism, spindle motor failure is very common on these mechanisms, yours may be on its way out. take the lid off and insert a cd and if you can hear the laser trying to read the cd without it spinning, it's definately the spindle motor.

Sony cd walkman reads but won't play

If you have a small enough screwdriver and some time it's not too hard. I just fixed one of my kids' walkman (same make & model) yesterday. The motor that spins the gears that makes the laser assembly move back & forth came loose. There is a single screw that holds this motor in place. They should use some lok-tite or similar when they assemble these things.

Marantz CD48 - CD spins backwards

Check the small signal transistors BC338 and BC328, they're under the transport mech and will be near where the spindle motor plugs in to the PCB.
One of the transistors acts as a brake which momentarily puts the motor in reverse polarity to stop the CD rotating during 'stop' or 'open tray' modes. The reason the CD is spinning backwards is that the transistor which drives the spindle motor forwards during playback is faulty and is triggering the braking transistor hence spinning backwards.
The transistors should be 'BC328-25' / 'BC338-25' (25v)
Replace these and all should be well.

Hope this helps
