I have a hifonics Zrx1200.2 amp. I am running 2 Rockford fosgate p3 12s with it. The specs on amp and subs match perfect. So I have everything wired correctly, it least I sureeee think so. Subs are dvc...

u could just not have enough battery power or the load on the amp is to much. if the amp is in stereo mode it should work but if it is in bridge mode the ohms would be to low .. best thing is to get a sub amp with a 1 ohm stable capacity.. and you amp should be at least one third more powerful than the subs..eg: if the 2 subs is 1000 w each the the amp should be 2500 rms and up to prevent the amp from maxing out and over heating etc.

Rockford 801s.The ground terminal melted off but still worked when i disonnected it.

It's more than likely melted to the frame of the amp. Since it's melted, you really need to send it in to be fixed or pickup a new amp. It's VERY dangerous to not have it correctly grounded. It could potentially cause a fire.

Can i power 2 12 subs a rockford punch z and a xplode with this amp i found all this **** in my garage and i need to know if it will power all this

First of all. Using two different kinds of sub woofers, is not an option, as these two sub woofers have different specifications and you should never mix sub woofers. Now the better choice from the 2, would probably be the Rockford. (cant be sure without knowing the models, power handling is also a factor in how well either of the sub woofers will play, but Rockford as a rule makes better sub woofers than Sony does) In my opinion, both the sub woofers deserve a better amplifier than what Boss has to offer. However to connect either of these sub woofers, you would need to determine how many voice coils it has and how many OHM the voice coil/s are. If it is a DVC (dual voice coil) and each voice coil is 4 OHM or 2 OHM, then you can connect one voice coil to one channel of the amplifier and the other voice coil to the other channel of the amplifier. If it is a DVC 2OHM you can also connect it wired in Series/Series to give a 4OHM load and should be connected to the BRIDGE dedicated speaker outputs of your amplifier. If it is a SVC (single voice coil) and it is 4 OHM, then you can connect the sub woofer to the designated speaker outputs of your amplifier that states BRIDGE. DO NOT run the amplifier in BRIDGE mode at 2 OHM as this will probably damage the amplifier. dreamsystems

How many svc subs at 4ohm does it take to get this amp to 1ohm stable and can you reccomend a good sub combo for this amp whether it be dvc or svc

It depends if your sub is 4ohm svc, or 2ohm svc. 4ohm would take 4 subs wired in parallel, 2ohm would take 2 subs wired in parallel. But for a amp that big, subs that'll handle it are definitely gonna be dvc. I'd recommend 2 Orion 4ohm dvc hcca's. They come in either 15in or 12in. the 15s are louder if you have the space for them. As far as wiring goes, wire the voice coils on the subs in parallel to 2ohm per sub, then wire the 2 subs in parallel to 1ohm. Goodluck and congrats on the equipment, Orion is about as good as you can go for subs and amps. just be ready to lay down some dynamat cuz this system'll bloww your vehicle apart! good luck...

Ground wire has burned plastic cover on my amp

what type of terminal is on the amp. screw or slip on type?

The plastic does not carry any type of ground. If your ground wire was melted, that means you have a 'hot' wire shorting across the ground somehow causing a short. This causes excessive heat like an 'arc' welder.

You might want to check your power wire to make sure its not making any contact to ground. Make sure any foreign debris is not causing a 'bridge' between the 2 posts.

If your terminals (or place where you hook up power and ground wires) are in good shape, re-wire and turn on the unit.

make sure you ground wires arent shared, meaning run each ground wire from each amp to its own grounding point

Amp stoped working

You need to run a larger power/ground cable. If you are reading low, you are not getting the kind of voltage that the amplifier requires to run, you may have been fine before adding the other products but if you wired them all to the same power wire (say an 8 gauge) you'd encounter problems. You should probably use a 2 gauge or at least a 4 gauge power kit.

Sony xplod 500w 4/3 channel

If the speaker is a 4 ohm DVC (two 4 ohm coils), you can't wire it to get a single 4 ohm load. Try connecting one coil to each of the two rear channels. It may not be as loud but the amp should operate without going into protection.

If the two 4 ohm coils are in parallel, the amp is driving a 2 ohm mono load. That's probably why it's shutting down.

Whats the size of the wire? If they are too small they will melt and even catch on fire. Let me know.
