Windows explorer has stopped working

My computer system is vista basic...after i download an application in the internet, and i finis to run the application my computer is start in hanging.. and i suppose to log off it and when the window appear, the message appear that the windows explorer has stopped working and it appear:

There is probably a problem with one of the add-ons that the browser runs. Go to the internet options and "manage add-ons." Disable anything that looks suspicious.

you probably have the wrong driver installed. Most likely you have upgraded to a 64 bit system, and the driver is 32 bit. Find out which system you're running (right click 'computer' and click 'properties').Disconnect the printer and Uninstall the software, then go to hp website and download the proper software and install here:

Does the MX 310 work with Vista


Looks like you will need to download a driver.


You'll need to know if you have Regular Vista or Vista 64-bit.
Here's how you can tell:

64-bit versions of Windows Vista are for computer users who have high-performance needs and are typically running a computer with 4 GB or more of Random Access Memory (RAM). The terms "32-bit" and "64-bit" refer to the way a computer's processor handles information. The 32-bit versions of the Windows operating system can only use up to 3 GB of memory.
The 64-bit versions of Windows can use more memory and help reduce time swapping processes in and out of memory by storing more of those processes in RAM rather than on the hard disk. This, in turn, can increase overall system and application performance, especially with applications optimized for 64-bit. Job Status Window Interface has stopped working.


The issue usually occurs if you are using windows xp drivers on a vista machine. It's strange that the error does not come up when printing from internet explorer 7.0.

There is a file on support.dell.com that you can run to remove any xp drivers and then run the vista installation file. that should take care of these error messages from the operating system.

Printer cannot retrieve application form


I had same problem on windows vista. The imaging studio used to work on Win XP but not on Vista. I tried the CD that comes with the printer and downloaded the driver from lexmark. In the end I foind that:
In explorer go to c:\drivers\printer\4300\applications and click on the setup.exe file. It finishes the install and then the next time you go to start, programs, lexmark center you get the full drop list of the All in1, imaging studio, photo center etc.

After install get problems closing internet


Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.

when running the installation cd you will be prompted to choose what type of operating system are you using, you must choose correctly on your specifications.Yes, you may download a driver for windows vista for your printer on the printers company website or other driver download sites.

Introduction A full feature software and driver package for Windows Vista is not available for your product. However, the Windows Vista operating system installed on your computer contains a basic driver solution for your product. With the basic driver, the buttons on the product do not function and some of the advanced product features are not available. But you can still print, scan, and import and view images on a memory card, using the workaround procedures in this document. Use the following instructions to install the basic driver in Windows Vista, and then review the workaround procedures to use the available features for your product. Installing the printer driver When you connect the product to the computer, Windows Vista detects the hardware and automatically installs the correct driver. Cannot retrieve application list


My updates to the printer automatically downloading to a C:// drive for my hard drive which was labled H:// after the format. I had to reformat the computer partitions after backing up my hard drive to disk and relabeling the Hard drive back to C:// once the updates were installed to the correct drive the scanner downloaded the needed updates and began working. if anyone needs to know how to reset your partitions in the hard drive, all you do is after inserting your boot/install windows disk at the time of asking were to install windows a setup window will appear on the screan. at that time you may install another version of windows or delete the partition by pushing F2 to format, or in any case at the bottom will lable correct button to push to format the desired partitions. REMEMBER ONCE DOING THIS ALL YOUR INFORMATION ON THE COMPUTER WILL BE DELETED! So I strongly urge you do back up all information. THIS INCLUDES ALL OF YOUR DRIVERS! if you do not back up your drivers you will loose essential data to run your computer again including your network controller adapter<-- this is needed to get online it is basically your ethernet/ internet port which you may want especially to download the new drivers to other programs Video drivers etc. The Whole process is a couple of hours to complete but if you can take the risk in trying this you'll save yourself time and money getting ripped off to have someone else do it. Where by the way charges are incured with system diagnostic runs to make sure places of computer programming and system tech supports are covered if anything is to go wrong with the computer. then youll laugh when you see the bill after not having a computer for a week!

Scanner will not function

NOTE: This feature works only with Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows Vista Business, and Windows Vista Enterprise
Your disks I don't think will help, looks like it is case of Not fully vista compatable, there are also issues relating to your old HP Director software ie...

"In October 2006, Microsoft released Internet Explorer 7. The HP Director software that shipped with some HP products introduced between 2002 and 2004 may not be compatible with Internet Explorer 7. The HP Solution Center software, which replaced HP Director software, does not exhibit this issue with Internet Explorer 7."
