SOURCE: Battery in Panasonic ES8183 wet and dry shaver

A 12 months old wet and dry shaver must have a defective battery after such long period of use.

The battery cell is weak and unable to hold charge.

You sure need a battery replacement. It's not necessary you get a Panasonic battery replacement as long as its the same size, shape and watt. You can get another battery from any electronics accessories store within your vicinity.

All you need do is disassemble the shaver, remove the old battery, use it as a sample for the replacement so that you can get the same battery size, shape etc..

To disassemble the shaver, first, take the shaver outside and use a can of air to clean the shaver. Repeat this at various stages of the dis-assembly, being careful not to lose any parts!

Remove the two screws at the bottom (the end that plugs in to the charger) of the shaver, and remove the bottom cover. Keep track of the two small washers, and a small flat plastic piece, about 10mm square that fits inside of the cover - these keep the unit waterproof.
Open the shaver head, and remove the blade assembly from the white plastic vibrating arm by pulling on it - it will pop off. Undo the two screws on either side of the arm, keeping track of the two small washers under the plate - these will tend to stay in place and stick to the metal plate or the plastic underneath the plate.
Press on the mechanism from the end you first opened, and notice a gap opening up where at the other end, just below the head latch button and hinge. Gently pry open this crack, and work the case apart. Keep the large O-ring that seals the case, and make a note of its orientation so that you can assemble it the same way.
This has been too easy, I know, so there is one headache. I have not figured out how to remove the sliding trimmer assembly. Because of this, I found it was necessary to pry the large black U-shaped plastic clamp from the vibrating arm at the same time you pull the innards out of the case
By now you should have access to the battery, and proceed for the battery replacement.

I hope you understand the above.

Good luck.

Why have I got a red light on the bottom of my shaver when I am using it

It is common for many Braun shavers, that if the indicator light flashes red while the shaver is being used (switched on and running), it means the battery is low and needs to be charged soon.

Below is an example from a manual for a Braun model 7526 shaver. You can search that site for other manuals if this is not the correct one.

This model shaver has 3 indicator lights:
1) Green (Charging)
2) Red (Low battery)
3) Blue (Power cord attached and plugged into the wall)

Download the manual for the model 7526 here:

"The green charging light shows that the
shaver is being charged. When the rechargeable
battery is fully charged, the charging light
flashes or goes off.

If later on, the charging light comes on
again, this indicates that the shaver is
being recharged to maintain its full

The red low-charge light flashes when the
battery capacity has dropped below 20%,
provided the shaver is switched on. The
remaining capacity will then be sufficient
for 2 to 3 shaves."

How do i change the battery in panasonic es-rt51 electric shaver

Panasonic ES-RT51 battery problems?
If your razor battery runs down after only a few shaves e.g jumps from 60% to zero Let the razor completely discharge by leaving it switched on until the blades stop moving completely. (This can take over 24 hours so be patient) When they are stop moving recharge the battery and you will find the battery will charge and discharge just like new!
(This may take a couple of discharge cycles). Only charge the battery when it is flat after this and the problem SHOULD not reoccur.

when you charge it and get maximum of 30 days of cordless shaving, you should certainly understand that it has got rechargeable dry cell inside.

I was given a norelco 3605 shaver in excellent condition (used) without instructions and would like to know the charging procedure and duration (the amount of time it takes to fully charge the razor). Is...

The manual says to charge for 16 hours if it has not been used in awhile. They say nothing about it over charging, but the batteries need to be used and let discharge through shaving. A fresh/new battery is supposed to last about 2 weeks before needing a recharge. I think keeping them charged all the time cuts down on battery life.

Red light at bottom flashes even when razor ids fully charged. What can causrethis?

When the battery is almost empty (when there are only 5 or fewer shaving minutes left), the battery symbol lights up red.

Make sure that the battery does not have a memory effect. What I suggest is taking the shaving head unit off and running the shaver till empty, then recharging. Check if the red light is still flashing.

There's also a head indicator at the bottom of some shavers.

To remind you to replace the shaving unit, the shaving unit symbol flashes (all types) and you hear a beep when you switch off the shaver (RQ1090 only). This happens at the end of 7 successive shaves to remind you to replace the shaving unit.

Without knowing what model you have it's difficult to diagnose further.

I get three shaves per charge

I have a couple of thoughts...

First, the amount of shaves you get is directly relevamt to the amount of time it takes you to shave. Most shavers today have a run time of about 30 minutes while there are some that are longer. If your shaver has a 30 minute run time and it takes you 5 minutes to shave, you should get about 6 shaves on a charge. If it takes you about 10 minutes to shaver, 3 shaves is all you can expect on a charge. You get the idea.

If your shaver does not hold a charge for at least 30 minutes, the batteries may be going bad. Although you mention that you just got this shaver, it was manufactured some time ago. Model R-450s has been discontinued for about two years. The batteries on lower end models like this one often dont last as many years are the older models did.
