Bshu, first get yourself a bunch of rolled towells or something of that nature to place between the tub and rear cabinet. This way when you lean it back the pulley will stay centered with the hole. Remove the cap to the thrust bearing, it just pops off. You will see a lock ring sitting on washers. You can remove this with a flat blade screw drive and the cam will come off. Pull down on the pulley but be carefull to remember the order of the washers and bearings. If you are going to replace the thrust bearing kit, the part number is 12500036 series 12. This kit will come with a new pulley. After you have installed the new kit, getting the last retaining clip on can get frustrating. It is tight and you may need a third hand...hope this gets you going.

Your model has only one belt that goes around motor, transmission, and drain pump pulleys. Most likely it is the cam bearing kit that has worn. That kit includes the big yellow pulley under machine at center and btake cam and associated washers and bearing. It also could be drain Pump seized up or could be motor is bad.

What is blck powder under the motor of belt drive Maytag washer MAV4057AWW

The powder is belt wear. Not to worry though, they last a long time. There is always some wear on all belts as they slide into the channel on the pulley.

My atlantis do not spin and drain .

Check if the motor is running, then proceed as follows:
  1. If the motor is running, the washer has a frozen pump pulley or a broken pump belt. Remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it does not turn freely, it is frozen or stiff, replace it. If the pump belt is broken or worn out , replace it. Check the pump pulley before you change the belt.
  2. If the motor isn't running, the lid switch is probably defective. If it is so, the washing machine cannot spin and may not function at all. The lid switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Usually you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine depending on the model to get to the switch. If defective, you must replace it. Check it's continuity when activated using an ohmmeter. A defective switch does not have continuity when activated.

Maytag atlantis will agitate won't spin

I had the same problem with my Atlantis a couple of months ago. It turned out to be the bearing for the tub drive pulley. When you look under the washer there are three pulleys. The one for the motor is ont he left, the drain pulley on the right and the big one in the middle for the tub. What I found is that when the bearing went bad, the tub would fill and turn for washing, but it would not turn at all for spinning. I could turn the pulley by hand but the tub refused to budge. I removed the main pulley and could see that the bearing had exploded. You can't buy just the bearing but the whole pulley kit is like $35 so I got off easy. I put the machine back together (which is tricky) but it works fine now. The pulley kit comes with complete instructions but it's really straightforward. The tricky part is that you have to pull down on the end of the drive shaft in order to get the retainer ring onto the pulley. That can be difficult if you don't have a lot of room to work or have a partner to assist. You can replace the whole thing or just the bearing and save the pulley for a rainy day if you want. I opted for the whole replacement. But I saved the old. cause ya neva know!

Maytag Washer will not spin

Pull the unit forwardand lean it back about 45 degrees. You'll have to play with it a bit, but once it's far enough out, it will lean back without you having to hold it. Remove and inspect the belt(s) are they in good condition? Next, check the pulleys (wheels) underneath. Do they turn? One is for your pump, one is for your transmission and one is for the motor. (in case one doesn't turn, you'll know what portion needs to be worked on). Also check the track on your pulley the belt sits in. Is it dammaged or worn?
