PC wont boot

I'm trying to get my new graphics card installed but when I put the card in the PCI slot and connect the power to the card the PC wont start. Not even to the BIOS screen. Its just a black screen. When I remove the power from the graphics card, and start my pc the fan on the graphics card goes into high speed, but the PC does start. Reconnecting the power supply then results in a normal start but the card isnt "seen" by my system because the next attempt to restart my pc results again in a black screen, no bios. Mobo: Asus PSLP-LE Processor: Pentium 4 650 3.4Ghz PWR: Scythe Chouriki 2 650W DDR2: 2x 2Gb + 2x 512Mb Graph: Intel 82945G Express Chipset Family (onboard) So I want the graphics to become the Sapphire Radeon HD 6750. Thx

Check your specs for this one on your Card (should be on the box or in your included documentation), but I believe your card is PCIE v2.1. If this is the case, your card won't work. Your mainboard is an older one, and you can tell by the black PCIE slot that it is only PCIE 1.0. NOTE: PCIE v2.0 cards will work with PCI v1.0 as long as they meet power requirements, etc. (yours should be fine) but there are no updates to fix this on your mainboard. Time to dig out your receipt and look over the return policy. Again, a PCI v2.0 should work OK, just not the v2.1 cards.
Please take a moment to leave feedback if I helped you out today.

Need to install graphics card

Looking at the stats, the computer has a PCI-E(xpress) slot in it. You should be able to put the least expensive card in the system and be fine since you are not gaming. The 250 watt power supply is a bit of a concern. Like most comercially built computers, this one comes with the cheapest power supply Compaq/HP could put in it. I would replace the power supply when installing the new card. Installation of the card is simple. Open the case, look for the expansion slots (near botton of Mother Board), the top slot is the PCI-E. Put the card in, plug all your cables back in (power, keyboard, mouse, ect) before you put the side of the case back on (just in case). Make sure you have the monitor plugged into the new card. Turn the computer back on, in most cases it will auto recognise the new card and use it. When you get to windows, put in the install cd and follow the promts to install the card.

If things do not work out this easy, just add a comment to this posting and I will assist you, or someone will.

Which video card do i use in a vcg rb50

Dear,
you have pci express slot that supports high graphic card. You can buy a high graphic vga card but it relates with your power supply too. Check your power supply wattage and then buy the vga card accordingly because high graphic vga card require more power from supply.

There are alot of pci slot supported card in the market.

best of luck!

Hi, Is Asus ATI Radeon HD6450 Silence 1GB DDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI Low Profile PCI-Express Video Card capable for my Compaq HP Presario SR2020NX? -thanks a lot.

You mean will the Asus ATI Radeon HD6450 with 1GB of graphics memory, work in a Compaq Presario SR2020NX Desktop PC?

Yes.

The Compaq Presario SR2020NX Desktop PC has a PCI-Express x16 expansion slot.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00757470&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=3245048

{Motherboard illustration and photo are towards the bottom of the page}

Look at the specifications.
Scroll down to the heading - Expansion slots.

Three PCI. (PCI expansion slots)

One PCI Express x16 graphics.

NOTE*
Looking at the motherboard illustration, it is Wrong.
Shows - PCIEX1 (PCI E X1)
According to the specifications it is a PCIEX16 expansion slot. (PCI-E x16)

A PCI-Express x1 slot has 36 contact pins. 18 on each side.

In comparison a PCI slot {White} has 124 contact pins. 62 on each side.

Looking at the photo of the supposed PCI-E x1 slot they show, the black PCI-Ex1 slot is longer than the white PCI slots.

It is a PCI-Express x16 slot with 164 pins. 82 on each side.

The Asus ATI Radeon HD6450 uses a PCI-Express x16 expansion slot.

So you know the graphics card will fit. Low-profile to boot.

Power requirement:
The Compaq Presario SR2020NX desktop computer comes with a 300 Watt power supply.
(Although in actuality it's more like 70 percent of the maximum rated wattage. 210 Watts)

Enough power for the computer, and the graphics card.
ATI graphics cards do not use as much power as a comparable Nvidia graphics card.

Concerned that the Asus graphics card uses DDR3 graphics ram memory, and the Presario SR2020NX uses DDR2 Sdram ram memory?

Don't be. The graphics cards graphics memory runs independent of the computer's ram memory.

Just installed mobo ms-7091 m atx but find it as no video out ports how do i get a picture.i know its old but its my first attempt at building pc can i just install a graphics card.

I found the user manual here :
http://217.110.237.70/Manuals/Medion%208383XL%20mit%20MS-7091.pdf
Your motherboard provides 1 pci-express x16 slot, so you will need to install a pci-express video card.
Try to get a video card that doesn't need to be powered by the power supply. There are some out there that don't need to be powered, but .....
Most, but not all, pci-e video cards need to be plugged into your main computer power supply to work. If your power supply was designed to power a pci-e video card, it will have a 6 pin pci-e power connector to connect to a pci-e video card. If your power supply doesn't have this connector, you should replace the power supply with one with the pci-e power connector.

How to change the graphics card software in acer aspire desktop....

You'll just have to know what kind of graphics card expansion slot you have. Older systems have AGP slots & newer ones have PCI-Express. This will help you decide which type of card to install.

Once past that, you would have to physically open up the CPU tower case while the machine is off & unplugged from the power. If it has an existing graphics card, it will have to be removed & the new one will be installed in its place. If you had been using onboard video, make sure to plug the monitor data cable to the NEW video card's VGA slot.

Everything practically plugs into ONE SLOT & only goes in ONE WAY. so if it does not fit, then it's being placed incorrectly. After putting it back together, just restart the machine & insert the installation CD that came with the new video card & follow the program instructions.

Please take note that it may require that the software and drivers previous display adapter will have to be removed first.

Hi, All of a sudden my monitor stop working, Monitor says "no video" i've tried the monitor on another pc and it works fine. What could be the problem? please help. Thanks

Your graphics card PCI is damage if you are using on-board graphics then your motherboard has developed a fault to get around this fault you will need to open up your computer by taking the side panel off and checking to see if you have a graphics card in your slot if you havent then its an easy fix take note of where the graphics goes this is usualy the top slot if it has a little **** followed by a bigger one then its a PCI graphics card, if it has 2 normal same slots then you have an AGP slot after knowing which one you have you can go to any computer shops or online auction shops and type in either AGP or PCI graphics card, "remember it does count on how much you spend" after buying this its just as simple as un-screwing the screw that hold a plate in place, removing the plate, slotting in your new graphics card and putting the screw only into the little hold to fix your graphics card to the computer, then putting your VGA cable into that one and turning on your computer it will show everythign there after fully booting up just insert the cd that came with your graphics card and installing. ET1161-07 onboard Video gone bad. I tried a Gforce 8800GS 384mb card, that works, and I have no video, 1 long beep that never stops. Ican't get into the bios with the onboard video or the new video and...

Hi.

One continuous beep means that you probably have not put the graphics card in the PCI express slot or there is a short somewhere in the system.

Follow these steps to try and resolve the problem:

Remove the power cord and the video lead from the back of the machine and then remove the side panel to reveal the motherboard.
Remove the graphics card and take a look at the PCI Express slot for dust. If you see any dust get a clean, dry paintbrush and clean the dust from the slot and then blow on the slot to remove the rest of it.
Next look at the brass contacts on the graphics card and clean then. Re-seat the card making sure that it is fully pushed down in the slot.
Check that any other cards you have installed in the machine are seated properly.
Without putting the side panel back on, connect both the video lead and the power cord and turn it on. DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING INSIDE THE COMPUTER!!!

If the computer boots up turn it back off and put the side panel back on. If not then please post back telling me what the computer is doing.

Good luck.

Graphics

Graphic card output connections cannot be shared on two different cards. You will need to install the PCI card then find a way of connecting your screen cable to it depending on type of PC case and motherboard orientation.

Tried To Install New Card, monitor not responding.

Tech is suggesting that you pressed too hard while switching back & forth & may have hurt the motherboard by bending it. This a common problem. I can only suggest that remove your old card & clean the PCI slot with canned air. Carefully reseat the old card pressing evenly downwards till the card is seated. Use a flashlight & check where the card connects to the slot. It should be level across the PCI slot. Do this while the power cord is unpluged from the PC. Plug the power back in & start the PC.
Some video cards require extra power. Your newer card may need a four pin power connector to run. Please check the instructions that came with the RADEON X1300.
