I have seen backlight problems on the external LCD display. Take a flashlight and shine it on the external display to see if you have a picture. If you can see a faint picture, most likely either the backlight or backlight inverter has failed. Those LCD modules can be tricky to service because of the size. I would recommend a qualified tech for the job

When I look through the viewfinder on my Nikon D40x it is blurry and looks out of focus, but when but after I take the picture it is clear on the lcd screen. Is there a setting I can change or is something...

Adjust view finder focus as you will see setting there, to view correct focus in view finder itself.
Camera is just fine because it is taking good focus pictures.

Lcd and view finder stay black

Due to ccd imager chip failure in DC-F717 camera, you do not get live view to take pictures in LCD and view finder. CCD imager chip will be replaced to correct that problem, Sony offers free of cost repair for same problem in this model. Click Sony CCD Imager Support for details.
Thanks.

Canon Power Shot SX10 IS - I've had camera for about 4 months. As of a week ago, I can only use small view finder for taking photos; the 2.5 screen for viewing does not work now. Able to view photos...

You can reset the camera to factory settings. If after that, you still have the same problem, make valid the Canon warranty since it's 4 months old.

LCD screen is black when in photo-taking mode

hi

try chaning the menu options to LCD instead of View finder and things should get back to normal

if you are not too keen about the setting then you can just reset the settings to factory defaults and this should work again

hope this helped
cheers

My sony DSC-H1's LCD is not showing anything...but I can operate the camera with its view finder... Do you have any idea why it happens? and is there any master reset option for this camera?

I have a similar SONY camera. Turn the camera on and to the right of the viewfinder (or perhaps in a different location on your model) there will be a small button that reads, "FINDER/LCD". Press that button once to see if your view switches back from viewfinder mode to LCD display mode.

Lcd view finder

I had this problem yesterday and solved it just now by consulting the Sony handbook available on the Sony US website (p18). You (and I) inadvertently turned the display brightness down to zero.

To solve - with the camera in 'still' recording mode, press the up arrow "DISP" on the bottom 4 directional round pointer. Your screen will light up and you will feel like a proper *** as I did.

you need to go to the service center for replacing the ccd image sensor...i know it is free for replacing that image sensor cause your camera is one of the recall product due to the production error of the image sensor...log on to the sony site and go the costumer service ...
