Question about HP PC Desktops

1 Answer

My Windows Vista will not keep the correct time. When I correct it, it will go back an hour...I need Central Indiana with the new time change, we are now the same time as the East coast. Is there a solution for this problem? Also my trash bin disapeared. I could not find it so I made a new default bin. It says full even when it is empty...where did the one that came with this PC go and how do I get it back and working correct? Thank You ConnieM1855@yahoo.com

Did you set it to time zone you are in. It won't keep the time if the time zone is incorrect.

Click on the clock, then on "Change date and time settings".

Click on "Change Time Zone".

Select Eastern Time Zone and check the box if your area observes Daylight Savings Time.

How to change time and date on my pc

are running a Windows computer you should place the mouse pointer over the date/time, usually at the bottom right corner of your screen. Right mouse click on the date/time and scroll down to "adjust date/time" and left mouse click on that. A window will appear allowing you to reset the date/time. You can also change the time zone to your particular time zone. Some O/S will allow you to select internet time, which automatically keeps the correct time.

I have a dell Inspirion 530. When I turn on my computer this black screen comes up.At the top says windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. to fix the problem. 1....

I think the system files of windows might be affected. Looking at the support.dell.com website it's eigther you have windows vista or windows XP as your operating system

what you can do is Startup Repair, System Restore

1. To do this you have to boot your computer to the Windows Vista disk
.At the bottom says "Windows is loading files...."The Windows Setup environment will continue to load

2. At this screen you should configure the Language to install, Time and currency format, and Keyboard or input method options so that they are set correctly. When done, press the Next button. You will now be at the main Windows Vista setup screen where you would normally install Vista on to a computer.

3. Click Repair your Computer and keep on hitting next until you get the menuroadfox_18.jpg
4. Choose Starup Repair First Keep on hittng next until computer restarts.

5. If it fails repeat steps 1 to 4 and choose System Restore

6. System restore will prompt you choose a date. I suggest to choose a date within a week when the computer's setting is up and running

Hope This helps

I wanted to wipe my entire hard drive on my old Dimension 8400 that contained windows xp on it and reinstall it with windows vista, which i have the cd for. however, when i did so, each time i try loading...

1. you will need to know 1st that the hard drive you are installing is compatible with the desktop.
2. Is the hard drive compatible with the new Operating system (VISTA).
3. Check to see if you have the hard drive properly inserted that is properly cabled and connected. This will render error in installation.
4. Make sure you are installing the Operating system correctly.
5. Some boot sectors become corrupt during a change in Operating system if the hard drive is not properly formatted.
6. Try formatting the hard drive again and re-installing.

Downloading Programs with the new Windows Vista

You need a special version for Vista if it's not what you tried to install already. It can be found here:

http://messenger.yahoo.com/windowsvista.php

Vista also pops up annoying prompts to confirm every system change, which may cause problems. This is caused by User Access Control, and I can walk you through temporarily disabling it if you can't get the above version installed straight away.

Windows Vista Business vs XP

Vista is a huge change for you then. I understand your frustration.

It really just depends on what your used to, your PC specs,etcs..

You do not need to buy a new computer just to have XP.

What you can do is erase Vista off the new sony, and install XP. I can help guild you if you like, on the phone it's almost a 1-3 hour talk. Depending on your experience etc..

It's an easy process downgrading to XP, all you need is:
1.A XP Disk.(The Windows XP Operating System Disk)

That's it, you get that and we can down grade your Sony to XP.

I recommend people get vista for a secondary PC like have a desktop that you do your work on, and if you have a laptop get vista on it as your personal computer. But on the desktop being your work keep it as is.

Let us know what you decide,

Thanks and I hope this helps,
