Question about Presto HeatDish Compact Heater

1 Answer

Presto parabolic buzzes as soon as you turn on.

I have cleaned it, I blew out the coils with compressed air, I removed the back cover to expose the electricals.  I attempted to follow the instructions of another post to by-pass the buzzer, to no avail.  I reconnected everything, put it back together, as originally came,  and for now it is working without a problem.  I have no idea what I did to make it work properly, which is really frustrating! Is it possible that just removing and replacing the inside connections may have removed some resistance and therefore allowing it to function as it should? Am verrrrry curious! jim

You may have gotten the "tip switch" conections back on a little tighter but sounds like you are going to have the same problem later on. if this is the case I have given a step by step fix for this just find my solution and follow the steps and "presto" its fixed forever.

You may also want to rewire the whole thing and eliminate all of the "braker" switches and go with the good ole on / off switch. This would effectivly make the heat selector switch on the top of the heater the only means of controlling the temp or wether it is on or off. If you need help rewiring the unit repost and ask me its pretty simple.

RE: Presto Heat Dish buzzer going off

I almost threw my heater out! I cleaned this morning with Window Cleaner and it works just fine now. It was just dust. I cleaned the round metal area not the coils.

Hope this helps.

Emailed Presto about replacing the buzzer and here is the answer I got:

There is no such part. Buzzer sounds when heater:
- is tipped
- rests uneven on floor
- is too close to furniture or wall
- has too much dust on parabolic dish
The most common reason is that the parabolic dish is dusty.
To clean the heater:
1. Unplug the heater and clean it when it is cool
2. Spray a cloth with an all-purpose cleaner such as 409
3. Wrap the cloth around a long handle such as a wooden spoon
4. Wipe between the grate from the outer edge to the center
If you have further questions, please let me know. Or call us at 1-800-877-0441 Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Central Time.

My heater makes this constipating noise and the "tilt" alarm goes off after 10 minutes. I'm never able to turn it to the high position.

Is there a way to disconnect the alarm on my Presto parabolic heater? It comes on and works for about 5 minutes and then the alarm goes off. We are adults - no children around.

Cleaning the dish on my Presto space heater.

I pried the upper rim with needle nosed pliers --,just enough to get the grid off. After cleaning with Mister Bubbles, I popped the grid back in and bent the rim back down. I then took a hammer and
smoothed the rough edges. Looks almost like new!!
