On the bottom, there is a cover which usually has a a icon that looks like a memory Dimm or it may have a "m" next to it. Open that cover and you will see your memory slots there.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Are all memory chips alike? What type do I need to add to this model? I now have 512, want to at least double.

No, not all RAM modules (memory chips) are alike, there are roughly eight different types. Obviously, as this is a laptop, this has laptop RAM, reducing it to three options now. To figure out exactly which type of memory you have, use this tool: http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/cpu-z/1.57.1-setup-en.exe After installation of this bit of software, open it (it should have created a desktop icon) and look under the "Memory" tab on the top (arrow 1) and look at what it says next to "Type" (arrow 2)
es187_0.png
Now that you have this type, you can ask an employee at your local best buy for this type of laptop memory (DDR, DDR2, DDR3), or look on newegg.com for this type of laptop memory. Make sure that you do not get desktop memory, as this will not fit into your laptop's RAM slots. And you're going to want to look for a 1 gig module for doubling a 512. (the bigger the better, just keep in mind that 1 Gigabyte (GB) = 1024 Megabytes (MB))

I hope this helps!

Where are the memory slots

On the bottom of the laptop there should be a couple panels with icons. Look for one that looks like a rectangular ghost from Pac-man. That's where the memory slots are.

Where do i install the camera memory card into my laptop

According to the manufacture web site that model has a - • 4-in-1 Bridge Media Adapter, with Secure Digital, Secure Digital High Capacity, Memory Stick™, Memory Stick PRO™, Multi Media Card™ [shared slots]
So basically you need to look for just one slot, and you have to use one of those memory formats, If your using something else then it wouldn't work, You'll need a USB adapter that will read your type of media, The slot looks like its on the front edge of the laptop. It'll be a pretty small slot across the front, about where your left thumb would be. Its possible you have a model that didnt have one. The Bridge Media Adapter slot (available on certain models) supports the use of Memory Stick,, Memory Stick™ PRO, Secure Digital™ (SD™), MMC™ (MultiMediaCard™), or xD-Picture Card™ media. These media can be used with a variety of digital products: digital music players, cellular phones, PDAs, digital cameras, digital video camcorders, etc.
Lots of good info and owners manual at. http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=SB&os=&category=&moid=2221250&rpn=PSLB8U&modelFilter=L300-ST3502&selCategory=2756709&selFamily=1073768663
hopefully you can just click on all that,,,,,,

Are there more than one memory module slots on a gateway mx7122? I can see the one that is accessible from the bottom and it is empty. This laptop will not boot up and the only light that comes on is the...

Yes there are 2 ram/memory slot with a max of 1gig per slot.

If the lap top had gone shut off due to lack of power recently then you may need to reset the bios by taking out the battery on the motherboard "looks like a watch battery." Then leave it out for a few minutes and replace and the computer should boot widows.

How do I put a new RAM to expand memory. There is

Hi,
Some laptops do only come with one memory expansion slot.

In some cases the slots are on top of each other so one of them maybe out of sight if the RAM is in the top slop.
The best way to determine this is to take out the memory (make sure the laptop is switched off and that all power is removed) and look underneath the memory to see if you can see another slot. If you can then there will the extra slot and you can install your new memory.

If you can't then the laptop will no doubt have just the one slot.

I have a Toshiba Satellite 1905-S301 that has 512mb of DDR memory currently. I have a stick of 128 that I was going to throw in there to boost performance but when I opened the compartment the there was...

There are 2 types of memory, one for laptops and one for pc.

Your additional stick seems to be for pc from what your saying.

Additional thoughts:
I'm sure you can buy sticks for laptops at walmart or whereever you bought ur laptop. Just make sure it is the same speed type. Example: yours is 512mb ddr PC 5200, you will need to find PC5200, the 512mb and up you shouldnt have to worry about. So do your research before you upgrade or you will burn your laptop.

Momory card slot?

I imagine that is just the plastic plug for the bus port. Are you looking for a laptop memory slot or SD camera memory slot. These machines do not have an SD camera memory slot. You will have to get a USB adapter for it. They sell them at Walmart for approx $15. The laptop memory slots are located under a panel on the bottom of the machine. If there is only one slot there, then the other slot is under the keyboard.

HOW TO INSTALL ANOTHER MEMORY STICK

Most newer laptops have easy access to their memory slots, I'd recommend you got to the manufacturer's website and look for the maximum memory your system will allow. If you look at the bottom side of your laptop, you may see several small covers with just one or two screws in them. One of them will be where the memory slots are. It is not uncommon for the laptop to have a very small 'memory chip' icon on the cover. Be aware that many laptops only support two memory chips, and may have both filled already. For example, if laptop has 512MB memory, it may have two x 256MB chips in it. Which would mean, that to upgrade to 1GB memory, you would have to purchase two x 512MB chips. or one 1GB chip.
