SP 310 Says Battery is low. I have changed the batteries many times (Lithium) and it will often times shortly there after do the same thing. When It does this if I remove and replace the same batteries it will work for a while every time. Any other batteries will quit working in very few pictures. Now the flash has stopped working. A friend has the same camera with other problems.

I have been using the Olympus SP-310 for over a year now. I like the camera. It worked fine for about 6 month, but has developed a battery drain problem since then. Now, I can only take about 3-4 pictures with a fully charged battery before it shuts down. I have tried several types of rechargeable batteries (after charging them for 24 hours) with no improvement.

My SP 310 was working just fine until I installed the firmware updtate with "OLYMPUS Master" program - now I get nothing but a low battery light - even with the ac adapter! - They say they can fix it for a bit more than a new camera costs - I wonder how they spell "M A L I C I O U S S O F T W A R E"

Had the same problem with the LOW BAT, went to google, found the "software update", tried to install it.  Now the camera is DEAD.  Called Olumpus, sent the camera in.  The said $94.34 to fix it (I have the letter).  Called to discuss saying that a new camera is that much, that there is no "damage", only a software reset involved.  They reduced it to $59.36. Asked them to send the camera back.  Purchased a CANON A720IS for $110.  Sent Olympus a note THANKING them for pushing me away, that I now have a REAL camera, MUCH better specs, lens, etc.   DIDN'T know what I was missing!!  MUCH better pics, no problems.

I have the exact same problem, low battery with a brand new set of batteries installed. Then if I open and close the battery door, it works for 2 pictures. AND....my problem happened about the exact same time, Friday, October 17, 2008. I was going to a really important party, once in a lifetime, and the low battery light was on constantly. I have 5 sets of batteries, and couldn't get the camera to work for more than 30 seconds.

I have had the same problem several times but finaly realized the tempeature might have something to do with my problem. Usually I am in warm climate but when I went to the mountains or into cold weather I would only get a couple of pictures then nothing. So I started to remove the battery pk and put it under my arm for a few minutes and warm it up. Vvola four or five more pictures

Battery Uses

If the rechargeable battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.

My olynpus camera sp-310 shows battery empty when in fact I have new charged batteries in it

Your problem may be due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

My olympus sp-310 camera shows empty battery but I have a new charged batterys in it

Are you sure you put them in with the correct polarity facing the right way. Its a common mistake.
Also try a "known" set of batteries just to make sure.
Good luck

When I load fully charged batteries it comes up with the 'battery low' warning and sometimes 'zoom error'

Believe it or not, the batteries are not fully charged.
1. Use alkyline batteries to test if camera is ok.
2. Carry a spare set of alkyline batteries
3. Don't mix battery types or mA sizes

My Olympus SP-310 has wavy lines in all the pictures. I found a solution before on the internet - it recommended changing one of the settings. However, I can't remember what it was, and I can't find t

If the camera was working fine "before" you made a setting change, try going into the setting and selecting "factory Default" That may correct the setting you may have experimented with. And, make sure your battery is fully charged first!

Olympus 550 UZ battery

you may want to use lithium batteries... i find the rechargeables in most cameras to not last as long... also you may need to clean the contacts in the battery compartment with alcohol and let air dry

How to remove batteries?

B#$@ S#@%, it is a simple 2 wire set up. Take out 11 screws and the case easily comes apart. 8 screws on the side and 3 on the bottom (2 of them are under the serial #). Finding the battery from a seller so far is my problem. The wires are color coated. The battery is a flat battery and not the round looking capacitor on the side. The battery is sold by the TJL company out of China and it is marked with 280mAh and it is a lithium ion polymer. The voltage is not marked and this is the only other thing I need to find.
