Question about Akai LCT2785TA 27 in. LCD Television
It looks like you're really handy with electronics. I read through your detailed explanation of how to fix this TV when it stops turning on, and I think I understood most of it.
I'm pretty bright and like fixing things although I don't have any experience with electronics. I'd like to fix my TV myself but I'm in college and don't have any power tools or soldering supplies.
Do you think it's worth buying these supplies and attempting to fix it myself? What supplies would I need?
Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated. Have a fantastic day!

It's worth a shot.First I would open the back of the TV,and look at the can shaped items on the boards. If any of them have the tops,or bottoms bulged out, they need to be replaced. Then you can get the stuff you need to replace the bad capacitors. This should get it working again. If it is anything else, you will have to buy some equipment like a multimeter to test the components, and find which ones are bad.As far as what you need,it all depends on how much you want to get into this, and,or other electronics. You would need a soldering iron, solder, solder braid, and a desoldering bulb/plunger to get started.I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please let me know.Thank You very much!
