I have the same problem. My LFD790 worked for a few months. Now when I power it on, a boot-up screen displays for a few seconds, then it goes to a blue screen... i.e. no display output. A red light on the back of the sub is constantly lit. Have tried everything I can think of. Am one step away from trying the trusty hammer. If that doesn't fix it, at least I'll have the satisfaction of knowing one reason why it will never work again.

Yea, I will not buy another LG anything. I bought this and after 6 months it just stopped working. It just says booting and fades in and out. I called and they were no help and wouldn't let me return it.

SOURCE: Setup and Menu buttons do nothing on my LG LHT854

You need to press "Input" on the remote and keep pressing it until you get to the connection that you are using (e.g.: HDMI, etc). Once on that, you can use the setup screen. It took me several hours to figure that out.

SOURCE: no sound though home theater when watching tv

There is an orange button on the remote, half way down in the middle. I belive it has orange lettering and says something like "TV-?" press that, and the sound should start to come through your speaker system. You can then use the original remote that came with your TV and turn the sound off on the TV to use just the theatre system. I noticed that if you use the TV speakers in conjunction with the theatre system, that it echo's.

SOURCE: My LG LBH953 Home Theater rear speakers won't work

You have go to audio setup on the main menu and turn off HDMI. Afterwards, select the sounds button on your remote and select the "games" option. This is because it is probably the best select to listen to movies via surrond sound. I hope this helps

sounds like your speakers might not match your receiver. check the back of your speakers for the ohms eg 4 , 6 ,8 impedance.
you have to match the specs of the receiver otherwise it cuts out.

"S-Protection"

I have disconnected all wires from the back of player, and it still turns off and says "s-protection". If I unplug it and plug it back in, it will work for about 30 seconds then goes off. Would that mean there is a short inside the unit itself?

I just bout a ProTechnik Pt625 Home Theater System and it doesnt come with a manual, so I was curious on how to go about hooking everything up.

i sell these systems, its quick and simple.. I strongly sujest you get yourself some better thicker wire "16 gage". the 2 front speakers and center channel require wiering, match the bronze wire with the red and the other with the black. the two rear speakers are wireless so you plug one in the outlet and run wire to the other rear speaker you do not need to run the wire to the reciver the wierless router will automatically catch signal.. try not to have to many things interfering with the signal dont put more than 20 feet back...
