On my psc 1610 all in one the scan to feture does not work. it tells me i need to run install or run device software

Just follow the steps below and it should start working again

this is a issue with communication between the devices and can be due to several reasons like incomplete installation(scanning drivers not installed. usb cable being too long. some ho **** on the pc already). follow the steps below and see if it works. if not you will have to mess with the registeries and thats the next level.

disconnect the usb from the printer>
insert the printer cd in the drive>
cancel the autorun that pops up>
Explore the cd from my computer>
locate the folder called ccc>
it will contain files called uninstalll1, uninstalll2,uninstalll3,uninstalll4>
run them all in the same order as above>
this will completely wipe off the hp device from the pc (it will take time each level taking more time then the one bofore it)
once done restart the pc>
reinsert the printer software cd and follow the onscreen instructions to reinstall the printer software again.
