Re: Olympus D-595 Zoom

I don't know anything about this camera. However on most modern cameras, the Shutter Button is usually just part of a switch. Nearly always there is a rubber Diaphragm below the button, which has an electrically conducting lower surface. When the Button is pressed that surface touches a small printed circuit board, or part of a circuit board, and a number of circuits are closed. It could be that the lower surface has become stuck to the Circuit board, or the rubber diaphragm has moved and is jammed down. It might be possible for you to open the case, and get to this switch. Any other switches or buttons near by, will also become loose, so remember which goes back where. If you don't want to take any chances I would advice you to find a local repairer, who should be able to fix this fault very quickly and fairly cheaply. Good luck

I have a Olympus D-595 Zoom Digital Camera and I have put 4 pairs of new batteries in it and it still says "Battery Empty" Whats Up ??

Make sure you're inserting the batteries with the + and - poles in the correct direction. Also, try cleaning the battery contacts in the camera with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol.

Shutter release inoperative

The "button" is actually just a plastic extension for the actual switch on the printed circuit board. You will have to dismantle the camera to gain access to the board and then use a DMM to test the switch contacts.

Camera wont turn on after downloading pictures. I forgot that the camera was still attached to the computer and shut it down. Now the camera is still extended in zoom and does not turn on/off.

Direct downloads from camera to PC are heavy on battery capacity. Remove battery and either replace it with a new one or a fully charged one (note that Olympus recommend Lithium or rechargeable LiON batteries). Press the shutter release once to make sure that it is not in sleep mode.
Make sure that the camera is in "Data Transfer" mode.
Now start the PC, plug in the USB cable at the PC end, and then connect the camera to the PC.  Use the eject/remove function to disconnect the camera.  Now switch the camera to one of the taking modes.  Try to zoom the lens.  If it is still permanently out then you have a trip to the dealer.

Shutter button stuck

Some have used compressed air, blown directly into the button. this should dislodge anything that is holding the button down. Also check and see if the button is cocked in the body, you can pry it back into position and it should pop back up. It is a 2 position switch, first detent is to hold focus and bottom out is shutter release

Olympus C-750 shutter problems

Changing the firmware won't change anything. The micro switch may be stuck in the on postition. If you are familiar with micro circuits, you could get the switch from Olympus or and replace it. Or, send the camera to Olympus or an Olympus authorized shop.

Shutter Problem

I had an Olympus C-3000 this same type of sympton happened to me. I sent it off to Olympus to be fixed (via local camera dealer). When it came back, after about 10 shots, it failed again the same way. Back to Olympus a second time. Came back and failed again after about 10 shots. This time dealer worked with Olympus and I was given a new reburbished camera (same model). This whole thing took about 4 months. Time frame was a couple of years ago.

A/C adapter

There is an A/C adapter which is recommended for use with the D-595 Zoom Camera. The model is E-7AU. Use this 110V/120V AC Adapter to conserve batteries when downloading to your computer, for extended work in a studio, during printing, or while viewing images while connected to your TV or VCR. You can purchase this through the Olympus Emporium at or 1-800-201-7766. The Olympus stock number is 200751.
