Generally you don't need to know jumper settings in newer motherboards. What you may be referring to is the front panel i/o connector. This has the power switch, reset switch, power LED, hdd LED, and etc.

I want to know that , for BIOS updates in GA-K8VM800M motherboard, whether it is necessary to alter the jumper settings or not. If not, then please tell me about a Gigabyte model in which it is necessary.

I don't know how old is your Gigabyte Board, but the motherboard is not an invention that was exclusively for computers. The motherboard idea was generated for the defense electronic industry. Now what they had in mind with the jumpers, is not clear to me. I know for instance that the jumpers were calibrated to change the chip voltage 0.1V per step, but probably you are right. For a given frequency and speed that a computer is designed for, there is one setting of the jumpers. My HD died

check the jumpers on the back of your drives,also if you are using the wide flat wires(ide) remember their not indestructable they will tear on either side if ther'e twisted enough,if your not finding a simpler solution for the bios misread I suggest you don;t try a bios flash on your own good luck

Don´t star my Asus P5S800-VM

Try this
Remove side of case and check that everything is set in properly
Probably with moving it around and the final bump has loosened something
CPU. Video card. Memory ETC

Missing part

Hi, Sorry to tell you but this motherboard supports ONLY SDRAM memory. There is no way that a DDR memory will fit into this motherboard. What you can do is add another SDRAM memory for better performance.
