Re: ps2 slimline is scraping my discs
Much of the clicking & grinding noises stem from the laser trying to find where to read on the disk & roving back & forth on the arm. Depending on the age of the system you can be under warranty for getting it fixed for free.
Otherwise. You can open the xbox and clean the laser. If this doesn't work than there may be damage to the motor. If that is the case then you need to have it professionally repaired. Don't attempt to repair it yourself or you may void a warranty if you have one.
I hope this was able to fixya problem and Happy Gaming!

When your PS2 starts to have problems reading silver backed discs you could be experiencing one of 2 different problems:
Your laser or disc is dirty (clean off your disc with a soft cotton cloth, and clean the laser in your PS2 with a cd drive cleaning cd)
The laser in your PS2 is going, you will need to take it into a shop to have it repaired, replace the laser or disc drive yourself (this will void the warranty if you have one) or get a new or different PS2.
try both audio and game disks if it will not turn the disks then the motor hub on the ps2 is shot if it will play the audio cd and not play the game then the laser is out of alignment but if you hear it spinning it could also be a burnt out laser as well further information would be required to diagnose this issue further.
After countless hours of tying to figure this out I went to the basics. This ps2 slim has 3 sensors and after all sensors are the key to making the machine work properly. After testing everything known to man I decided to go around the sensors by taping them all down. Low and behold when I cranked the ps2 slim up the disc now reads and plays perfectly.
okay, maybe the game is not compatible with the ps2, for eg if ur in europe they make the ps2's PAL compatible, if you're in USA they make em NTSC. other probs might be that clicking noise, doesnt sound too promising!! i dunno but dont get angry and smash the ps2 on the top, that wont help at all!! (like i did ^^)
Your Laser is most likely the cause of this problem. The lens and its frame work could be melting. This happens to all Slimline PS2's. To find out if this is your problem, you must take to console case apart to get a straight on view of the laser. Use magnifying glass to see the lens up close. It helps to also have a flashlight to shine on the lens while looking at it. You can tell if it is dirty or meltng very easy this way. Clean the lens if it is dirty. Use Glass Cleaner and q-tip. If the lens is not dirty or melting, clean the worm gear that moves the disc back and forth.
my friend i have a ps2 that its cd does not rotate ( i open it completely ) and the lens is working the lens is producing a red ray and it is movinng up and down but just the cd motor doesnot rotate so i checked the smd fuses using my fluke dgital multimeter i found one that is open when i replace it the ps2 work perfectly fine for your information the smd fuses are marked ps1 ps2 ps3 ps4 etc
