The amount of power that youre going to run on those 5.25s might indicate that you need to turn the crossover to a higher cutoff frequency because they gonna want to kick pretty hard if your set too low - Sounds like you got it under control though flip it to high-pass(HP) and see how it does at around 100 HZ cutoff- be sure to turn off any bass boost on the amp though too- Let me know how them soundstream mids do- I have a set of subs that kick *** but i never have heard anything about their mids-good luck

Im totally confused n where to put the settings on this amp and i just want some straight forward help please?

Your SX650.1 is 2 ohm stable so wire the voice coils in parallel and the speakers in series, then bridge the amp. Keep your multimeter close. Don't forget to beef up your input wire size to 4 gauge on the positive and the negative side. The rear channel should be set around 80 Hz. Your amp has a variable low pass crossover (30-200 Hz) with adjustable slope (set at 12/18 to start) but you should be able to hear the bang and the boom in the sub woofer. This is only a starting point for the real ear tune. I turn the gains all the way down and give the head unit 3/4 volume, turn the gains up just before it starts to scream then fine tune the frequency (Hz). Do the front and rear separately by disconnecting the RCA's, and then together. Try and play a wide verity of music while your adjusting your amps, but fine tune what you like. I hope this helps to get you started, Ray

MTX 8302 sound just quit on front speakers

hi Dan....Have you had any other service or installs shortly prior to the onset of clipping? In any case, the 8302 has Onboard Thermal Protection which is kicking in due to excessive heat. If you've had this running fine for a period of time, by that I mean at least a month, then we need to focus on why you're suddenly overheating......please update your post with any further information and progress.....good luck my friend

I have everything hooked up properly and the subs are putting out a little bit of sound but arent very loud. I had this system in another car and it sounded great. Do I just need to re-tune my amp or what...

yes, it sounds like you need to turn the gain up more than what it is. if you are certain that the wiring is correct and you have the source unit tuned properly there is not much more that it can be.
cheers

Feedback issues.

Did you run your power and remote wires the same route as your RCA cables? If you dont run the RCA cables on the opposite side of the power and remote you will get feedback through your speakers. I run my power on the side closest to the battery along with the remote ( passenger in my case) and the RCA cables should be on the opposite side( driver side). They say the power current will create a disturbance in the RCA cables that you would hear as feedback. Hopefully this will help you.

This question really can't be answered accurately online for a few reasons.. we don't know if you have a ported or sealed box, we also don't know what kind of box you have, wether it's a 4th order, 6th order...blah blah blah. We also don't know what the box has been tuned to (if it's ported). unfortunately, you'll have to play around with it yourself or get someone to physically see your set up. But here are some tips to help you tune your set up.
1st set up the frequency( or crossover). this basically tells you sub the range it should run in. alot of people don't set up their crossovers properly and the sub is reproducing frequency's the mids are producing so some notes are far louder than they should, which makes for unbalanced audio. when you get that sorted out move onto the gain. (keep in mind, that if you've only installed a sub and have stock speakers or are running upgraded speakers off the head unit and not an amp the frequency is going to be harder to control since you can't control the other speakers.) next the gain, the gain is really just volume. Play a song with alot of bass and set the sub at a volume that pounds, but not to the point where your other speakers get drowned out and there you go, you should have a pretty good sounding setup. If this is the first time you're tuning it may take some time, but please do this with your car running, far to often i hear people killing their batteries as they don't realize that amps really do **** alot of power.
If you purchased the subs and box separately the box usually tells you what it's tuned to (if ported) and you can use that to guess where to set your frequency.

Mtx ta7801 amp not working

Depending on where you live, Car Tunes is a good place to fix it but it might cost a good amount. I have a mtx 1501XD and the same problem, lights but no sound i saw no marks inside mine however. They told me i was better off buying a new one bc it was going to cost so much to fix most likely. That was coming from a guy I know so they were just trying to **** money out of me either, he does sound for a living.

Subs will go off the wall with bass, but not in tune with music.

hi, first disconnect the rca input, then switch on headunit and if the amp produces a constant bass thump it then means it has an internal fault. if the amp idles quietly then replace the rca cable, or try connecting the headunit lineout feed directly to the bass amp, in this way you cud find out if your fault is coming from the headunit or the equaliser. cheers
