I can assume that you mean it does not power on. If that is the case, remove the power supply (or supplies) and re-insert them to make sure they are getting a good connection to the backplane. Make sure the power supply (or supplies) is locked in to place and make sure it is turned on (if applicable, like my Cisco 5509).

If there is more than one power supply, try plugging them all in. In my experience that is the trick to getting a multi-psu enterprise switch to fire up. Once up, one of the power supplies can be disconnected, but may set fault status to the switch.

Hope this helps!

Why does the diskless workstation fail to start after STP is enabled on an S1700 web-managed switch?

To solve this problem, configure the service port of the switch connected to the diskless workstation as an edge port. For details, see the user guide of the web network management system. Huawei Networking Products News and FAQ

How to check if the switch is manage or unmanaged

Managed switches you can enter the default ip into a web browser, login and "manage" settings" this default IP will be vendor specific. Unmanaged you just plug in devices and that's about it. Managed switches you will pay a lot more for. Some lower end ones maybe several hundred dollars and up. If you are buying switches at Best Buy they are almost all unmanaged.

I can I connect this with a DSL modem/router (2Wire). Ideally I'd like the linksys to do the routing

This can not happen. It is a switch, and not a managed switch at that,

Just let the 2Wire do the routing.

What i sthe defaut ip to connect to this swicth? I need to reprogram after power loss.

That is not a managed switch. It is not programmable. Get the network servers running first and then the devices connected to the switch should start pulling IPs and regaining connectivity.

I am trying to configure a netgear switch (48 ports)but everytime I configure the static IP address for the switch, it keeps defaulting to a different IP address once it is powered down. I have also tried...

I'm not too familiar with Netgear switches, but if you told me you were having this issue with a Cisco switch, I'd tell you that after you change the IP address you need to save your configuration to NVRAM using the "copy run start" command. A Cisco switch will look to start using the configuration stored in NVRAM when it is booted. Changes are made to the configuration in RAM and are lost when reboot occurs unless they are first saved to NVRAM. Perhaps there is a similar command for the Netgear switch. Hope this helps

The purpose of hp procure switch 2626

There is nothing special about these switches other than that they are managed. Managed means they have some means of connecting to them and "managing" them like you do when you configure a wireless router by going to some ip address in your browser to access the configuration. They usually are able to communicate statistics, set up virtual subnetworks, monitor ports, mirror ports, control which ports can access which others, set speed limits on ports, etc... A normal switch is "dumb", there is nothing to configure and it just does it's thing, connecting anybody and everybody that are connected to any of it's ports. Procurve switches are popular because they are great switches, there are other managed ones that can be had for much less, I use 48 port managed Linksys that have/exceed these capabilities for way cheaper... examples

Hanging the system

If other computers are working perfectly then try it by replacing your network card.

you can also try it by changing the Lan card slot before replacing it with a new one..

Let me know if it helps...
