How to fix a popping sound

When I turn on my amp it causes the subs to pop, not loud or hard but low and soft repeatedly. When it does this the protection light comes on and goes off. What would cause the amp to do this and how can I fix it?

Re: How to fix a popping sound

This problem could be a normal thing in the amp, or there could be a problem in the muting circuit. I would contact the manufacturer to check with them , if theres any common issues with this amp. Also I've seen custom car amp installs where you hook up a speaker delay circuit that you can build from a few parts like a couple of capacitors a few resistors , a 555 timer IC and a relay with high current contacts. I have also seen these already factory nmade in good auto stereo shops. Good Luck

I have a alpine type r 12 in a seald box and want to know how to adjust my amp to sound right with metal and rock

hard to do because it is a VERY loud sub. turn the frequency down low on the amp so as just to be able to hear the kickdrum and bass line and turn the gain up just loud enough where you can hear it comfortably ( to your taste) at the loudest volume your going to listen to it at. if you do it right itll sound good. if you turn gain up past half or more it might blow your sub so be careful.

Sometimes clicking, or popping sounds from subs are caused by over excursion of the subwoofer, wich can be caused by ultra low frequency, or going below the tuned frequency of your enclosure.

The light comes on but little sound comes out

theres a chance you may have blown up the amp. never put a sub that is to strong for the amp because its pushing all of the energy out of the amp to power up the sub, causing the amp to blow a fuse or the channels, on the back there is control of frequency turn everything all the way up to see if you can even get it to thump hard but dont blow your sub if it pops turn down some stuff and check the head unit to where its fading to the front or rear and balance to left or right

Unwanted bass coming out of my subs

there has to be sumthn hooked up wrong bc i have had same problem with my 12' subs but it was simply a matter of my rca jacks but sense you have checked them try rewiring the speakers if that does not work then your rca module may be burned out within the amp..iso then check the amp by taking the cover off and making sure nuthn is burned on the inside.or if any wires are loose or touching.

KAC-9102d no sound, Amp powers on but no sound to the subs.

If the sub isn't working, you won't get a pop. All you need is a small speaker. Don't need a sub, you just want to test the sound. I recently blew 2 subs, no smoke, no smell, no sign of being blown. Absolutely nothing from the subs.... In the past my sub locked up. You can take your sub out of the box and hook the + and - to the battery to see if you can get the sub to pop there. I believe a small box will push a sub into a deep excursion to the center of the cone. I have 2 lanzar VW12D's that just quit. I hooked a 6 x 9 up to my amp and low and behold I had sound! Try that and see what you get...

Audio system makes extra noises... pops

Check all the wiring. It could be a loose connection since it's intermitent. Really pay attention to the power cable, both the end for the amp and the one that's going to the battery cable.
