Question about Panasonic NV-GS27 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
I have a Panasonic NV gs27 DVC but am unable to connect to my Compaq laptop running Vista Home Premium. Tried both USB as well as Firewire. It gets detected as USB webcam, but not detected via Firewire. Need to copy video off DV tape to comp.
Any help here?
Vista is notorious for not recognizing firewire unfortunately. Here is a link to a Microsoft Knowledge Base article that should help your situation. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi, thanks for the solution Technosavy, but upon editing the registry, to enumerate the iee1934, I still could not enable Vista to recognise the DVC.
I think this particular model does not have the option to download videos via USB or firewire, although both the ports are available on the camera. Upon connecting the DVC to vista it does get recognised as a Webcam though.
Now my only hope is to try connecting the cam to a Xp version to see if it is recognised.
