Hi,

Turn off the computer. Keep on tapping F8 on the keyboard on and off after you press the power button to turn it back on.

You will see the message "Boot advance option"

1. select the option last known good configuration, then press enter until you have your login screen. If this function doesn't work try booting to Safe mode with networking (note: before you can go to the other option you will need to restart the system again and use F8 again.)

When you are already in safe mode w/networking and able to login to your desktop screen you will a pop up message that would ask you either to restore the settings. Click "No" then a system restore window will show up on the sceen. Click Next. You will see a calendar icon on the left side. look for the date where your system was working fine. It will restart the computer...

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Jeff

Wallpapers are images that appear in the background on your Desktop, behind all your icons. To change your Desktop wallpaper, do the following:

  • Click anywhere on the Desktop that is not an icon, but click once with your right hand mouse button

Hiding Desktop Icons in Windows XPWith a good choice of wallpaper, your computer desktop can add an attractive, even artistic, element to your home or office. Eye-catching desktop wallpaper can be as decorative in its way as a painting or other wall hanging.

If you value the aesthetic potential of your desktop, you might like to enhance it even further by hiding the desktop icons.

Desktop Wallpaper Problem

It sounds like a virus. Go to malwarebytes.org and download MalwareBytes' Anti-Maware and scan with a quick scan. If the quick scan doesn't work, try a full scan. Then get avast! Anti Virus to prevent viruses (It's free!)

Screen is sideways

this is ok, either someone's yanking your chain, or you accidently activated an ability of your graphics chip, this mode is for "tablet" PCs which have a portrait mode. you most likely have an icon in the bottom left of your screen by the clock for graphics settings, one of these will be to rotate the screen.

it is also possible that this ability may be programmed to one of the hotkeys, however without model info I cannot tell.

your mouse should have flipped too, if not then someone may be fooling with you..

check if you can click your icons... if you cannot then right click on the desktop and change the wallpaper on your desktop, also re-enable your icons from this menu, you may also need to unhide your start bar

hope this helps
