I have plugged in my sky hd box and there is no sound from the TV - picture is oK, but the only way I can get any sound is to use the audio out phono plugs on the Sky HD box and plug it into my hi-fi, unfortunately my PS3 doesnt have a phono audio out, nor doe my hifi have any spare inputs - is there a setting on the TV you can change to get sound from hdmi sources?

Are you using the Audio out RCA connectors at the back of the set. Are you watching/listening from source connected on HDMI input?

I have Technika LCDDVD19-918 TV. The manual specifically states "Audio Line Outs - Note: line out feature cannot be used while in HDMI source, us SPDIF instead". You could try using the headphone jack for audio out.

You can't. You have to have HDMI. An HDMI to DVI adapter only passes video no audio. You can buy a real HDMI adapter with audio outputs if you want to.

My Toshiba 62hm195 DLP HDTV's HDMI ports have been losing sound intermittently. Both HDMI ports while connected to multiple devices (HDTV cable box, Panasonic Streaming Player) lose sound intermittently...

Your problem is in the streaming player. It is not keeping up and when an HDMI loses connection it will not auto find it again. To verify this take the Panasonic out of the loop and see if this fixes it. I love HDMI but it is touchy

Mitsubishi wd-60737 HDMI port 1 connected to cablebox. Screen is black and no sound. Cablebox is on, all cables connnected correctly and was previously working. Nothing new was done.

have you tried resetting your cable box? you can do this usually by either holding its power button in until all 3 lights light up, or by unplugging it from power , wait @ 30 seconds & plug back in .

Panasonic PT47XD64J Rear Projected TV

I know this sounds crazy but unplug everything in the HDMI ports. This series of Panasonic TVs have had many problems with bad HDMI ports. If there is a device plugged into one of the blown ports the power light will blink and the TV will refuse to power on.

If it comes on plug in devices one by one. You'll be able to isolate the bad port. Just refrain from using that one from now on. There's not much else you can do. There are HDMI splitters available if you need all your ports. It's an extra step but it's certainly cheaper than buying a new TV.

Try using a different HDMI port on the TV. It may be you are plugging it into a the DVI-HDMI port, which does not display FULL HD, or carry sound.
Hope this helps
