I've been on Brother site and chat rooms but with no luck. Printer worked faultlessly for 18 months then this problem merged after its fiorst paper jam several days ago.
I cleared the paper through the rear door and the flashing paper led came on agetr that. I've even opened it up but can't see a paper jam. I've rebooted et al

Re: HL-2070N paper LEd flashing
Most likely a sensor is tripped, eiher it's stuck or there is something blocking it. the most likely place is in the fuser, back door where paper exits and geta hot. look closely you should see a black lever towards the middle of the fuser, it should be up

First of all, I checked the answers given here, but nothing worked; everytime I turned on the unit, the red light flashed that the printer was out of paper.
From the Brother's HL-2070 manual, in the troubleshooting section: take out the toner cartridge from the front of the machine (be careful, any black toner powder that come off may be very difficult to clean up). I took the toner cartridge to the sink.
There is a blue slide along the top of the unit that will clean the corona wire if you slide it back and forth, from one end to the other (toner/dust can become caked on the wire over time; sliding the slider back and forth simply knocks the caked off 'stuff' off of the wire).
Replace the toner cartridge; it worked fine for me. I was immediately able to print.
The HL-2070N gets stuck in a toner end-of-life error condition. Perform the following to clear :
With paper loaded, new toner in,
Open front door
Turn off printer
While holding down the GO button, turn printer back on
When all four LEDs light up release GO button. All LEDs will turn off
Press the GO button 2 times. The 3 LEDs (toner, drum, paper) will light up solid
Press the GO button 5 times
Paper light will be blinking
At this point the toner end-of-life condition has been reset. Close front door.
BTW, I got this from Brother Support. Also, just a reminder, timing is important here so don't pause between button presses.
Hello rustyred, i tried to answer your live chat but my server or the fixya connection was causing issues. Trully sorry. can i still help? I am assuming you upgraded to vista from xp and you are missing the above options, might i suggest visiting brother web site and seeing if they have an updated driver for your printer compatable with windows vista, this may give you the options you want.
According to the brother site, that means that the printer needs servicing. I talked to a local service center and they recommended chucking the machine--any repair is likely to cost almost as much as a new printer.
This may be in the Drum unit, DR-350. Something could be blocking the scanner so remove the entire drum assembly and check. Also a bad connection with the drum unit. If that is not it you may have a high voltage problem. I would first pull out the drum and look for anything like a piece of paper inside with my flash light. Since it is less than 3 months old, I would take it back for warranty because if it is the drum or another problem you should not have to pay for it!
