Question about Computers & Internet
I would really like the full text of the solution that contains the use of the Run command. There is normally no 'browse' command. You could type 'explorer' instead as that will bring a browse window up on screen.
Can I ask you in all candor, did you buy this game title from an overseas foreign country and not a local retailer or online store? Thanks for your indulgence.
Now, to get Run to display on your start menu, you need to be logged on with Administrator privledges, and you probably have them. Right click an empty area of your task bar at the bottom on the screen, the same bar that contains the Start button and the digital clock. Once, you right click this, select Properties. a pop up dialog box will display and have more than one property sheet identified by page tabs. Click on the Start Menu tab. From this new property page, click on the little button for Start menu and then click on customize. There will be a long list displayed with check boxes for features. Scroll down until you see the Run Command and check that. Now you can begin exiting out of the property pages. Usually press OK or hit ESC until everything is off screen.
Now click on the Start Menu again and you should see the Run command in the second column. Click on that, a little dialog box comes up with a text entry line. Place you mouse in this text area and click. Now type "explorer" with out the quotes thou. This would be what your help text was driving at, not necessarily browse.
Now, you should be able to follow the rest of the directions, probably leading you to finding the CD/DVD drive and then having you perform a manual install.
Let me know how you make out. You can ask me more questions by using the comment box below this text so leave this browser screen up on display. Once you send me a message this way, I'll receive an email alert right away. I'll be online there in the Pacific Time Zone for a few hours. I am GMT -7 if you are in another English speaking country (common on FixYa). If need be we can pick this up tomorrow.
I can also bring another expert in to confer with me and you should the situation warrant it. Okay?
