Question about PayPal Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Setup problems Tried to setup one paypal account earlier-I ended up closing it due to the fact that someone else's name popped up with my email address, and well as mailing address. I couldn't get it to edit off, so I closed the account, so I could begin again. Shortly after I had completed some of the editing, the same name began to come up again on the window that drops down. When I try now to login to try to fix it, I am told that my password is wrong. I click to get another mailed to me, and after several tries and at least a couple of hours, I still have not received that email. Help!

to do that

How do I clear cache using Netscape? Question : Answer : setup problems - help_a.gif Cache files, or Temporary Internet Files in Microsoft Windows 95 or higher, are copies of files sent to your web browser and stored on your computer so that when you access a web site (such as PayPal) at a later date, it will load much faster. However, sometimes cache and temporary Internet files can cause problems in viewing your current information on the PayPal web site.

To set the size of the memory cache or clear it in Windows or Unix, follow these steps:

  1. From the Edit menu, click Preferences.
  2. Open the Advanced category on the left hand side of the screen and click on Cache. You should see an option to clear your disk and memory cache. It is recommended you clear both caches.
  3. Click Clear Memory Cache.

You may also need to locate the folder on your hard drive named Cookies or Magic Cookies and delete all the cookies that are stored there.

However, sometimes cache and temporary Internet files can cause problems in viewing your current information on the PayPal web site.

If you experience difficulty viewing a web page, your computer's cache file may be corrupted. Additionally, if you do not manually (or automatically) set your cache files to be deleted periodically, you may experience delays in loading and closing out of certain web pages.

To improve your computer's performance accessing the web, and specifically while visiting PayPal, regularly clear your cache file.

Contact someone regarding requests via e-mail asking to update my account info

Any emails from Paypal will always use your name to address you and the return email address is always never anything else. Chances are excellent its a phishing email, you should report it to PayPal and forward it to their security department.

Unless someone has read this and already done it, create a account under the same name, quick. You can then reset your password with the 'i forgot' link, and PayPal will send you a reset link to your new account. You can the. Go in and edit your email address.

My husband had a paypal account,he died six months ago, how can i find out more about his account as i do not know his password?

You'll have to contact and try their help pages.
It may take a while to sort it out.
Have you tried things like pet names, children's names, favourite teams, etc.
PayPal will help when your problem gets in front of the right person.
Can you check his old bank/credit card statements to give PayPal some facts about him.
You know he spent $ XX.XX on July 5th 2010 so they can help authenticate the accounts.
Good luck and be patient

I operated a successful account for about 3 years and was dropped because someone used my email for an adult site. I would like to re-instate my previous account....or is there a life sentence worse than...

This will be not safe for you to use the same email again for your Paypal account since it was use for a adult site that contains several malware, trojans and virus that can continue use it for other transaction and they can track down your account. SO it really better if you setup a new Paypal account using a different email address.

I would like to cancel both my accounts on pay-pal so i canhave just one account but a forgot the password and username can pay-pal erase them both

If there's no balance or transaction with the forgotten account, you need not to worry, it'll automatically be deactivated after few months but your original/existing account will be functioning properly without any hindrance or obstruction. When an account is not active or transaction being done for several months, paypal will send you an email to your email address with the message describing about the deactivation of the account, if you don't take any action, it'll be deactivated.

It's better if you can at least remember the email address [Note: your username is your email address] of your account so that you can deactivate it yourself. But still you can try to close it using the "Forgotten your email address or password?" form.
To recover your email address and your your password, use this form...
Forgotten your email address? (you'll need to provide your name full name, zip code, phone number)
To reset your password use this form;
Forgotten your password? (you'll need to provide your email address)
After you retrieve your password or recover your email address, login to your paypal account, click "profile" and select "Close Account" from the options available, you'll be presented with a warning if you are sure or not, click yes and continue with it.

I hope you could understand my instructions, if you have problem with my instructions, please let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.
