Question about HP LaserJet 2430dtn Printer

Laser jet 2430tn printing slow

Hello, My hp laser jet printer 2430tn was printing very fast without hesitation (like a machine gun). I just purchased a new computer and set it up just like all my other computers. My HP laser jet now prints very slow. When I print a job it takes about 5 seconds to start, then it pops out one page and then pauses for about 2 seconds then begins printing fast for approximately 4 pages then slows down again. I'm printing the same amount of text that I printed in the past. I'm using a PC computer "fujistsu lifebook E series(not a mac) and I'm connected with a 2.0 USB connection. I'm also using standard copy paper and printing full pages of text only.
Thank You in advance Carlos Estrada

Check the way your print Jobs Spool up in your PC. you may have a totally different set up for printing in your new computer that takes two or three extra steps(such as spooling the print job) prior to actually sending it to the printer to be printed. If you have a user manual for your new computer, check the printer set up and see if it is set up to print directly to printer or print to spooling folder then to printer. Also try a different driver if you wish, I know the 2430 can use either PCL5 or PCL6 drivers... I'd start there and see if there is a difference.... the problem isn't your printer obviously its the way your computer is communicating to it. Best of luck to you.

Hi, I m Muhib from pakistan Sir i have a

Hello Muhib --
welcome to FixYa.

Your HP Laserjet 2100 has many ports and ways of printing
1) irDA -- infrared port ... only works when computer is within 1 meter and 15 degree angle line of sight. -- Infrared way
2) Parallel port -- PC compatible way
3) LocalTalk port -- Macintosh way

In addition, you might print with PCL (HP's proprietary Printer Control Language) or this PS (Adobe Postscript) language.

Depending upon how complex your documerts or graphics are, it could take a while to queue and print your page as the printer has very litle internal memory installed. You can add more printer memory. DIMMs are available in 4, 8, and 16 MB, for a maximum of 52 MB, however the cost of the memory chips may exceed what it takes to purchase a more modern printer that already has enough memory inside.

If you have Windows, then I would recommend that you check your printer driver. If it is a Postscript driver, then try removing it and installing a PCL driver instead.

Muhib, I also recommend that you download the manual for the printer.
It may also benefit you to choose an up-to-date driver from the HP web site:

Good luck!

10 % Memory problem showing my printer and slow

In the printing process, there a stage called spooling. This is where the data to be printed is cached into your system, so that you can print it even without having to leave the source application open. However, when you are low on RAM (or computer memory), the spooling and printing process slows down since the system is finding it hard to transport the data due to the bottleneck. Closing running applications (such as your web browser, music player, media player, games, and such) would definitely help ease out this one.
