Hi bs, try updating your printer drivers. Your drivers are at this link, click downloads tab and make the proper selections:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=116&modelid=15402#DownloadDetailAct

Create a new folder on your desktop and name it newhpdrivers(substitute your manufacturer in new name). Un-intall printer and printer software completely. Go to manufacturers website and navigate to their drivers/downloads or support menu. Select your model, choose the relevant software and download to the new folder you created on your desktop(watch for the light yellow bar at the top of window viewing pane, click on this and choose – download file - . Power down your computer. Reconnect the printer to the computer and turn printer on. Power on pc. Windows will detect new hardware and ask if you have the manufacturers install cd or a location to check for install files. Direct the wizard to your new software, follow the rest of the setup instructions and your done.

When i plug in the printer and turn it on, the green light flashes alternately with a yellow light, displaying the number 2 on the little screen (green, yellow, green yellow...)

Greetings - According to the MP210 manual the error is "the machine is out of paper/paper does not feed."
The remedy according to the manual is "reload the paper correctly and press the Black or Color button."
Hope that does it.

Canon pixma mp210 wont turn on orange alarm light solid no response?

If you can take out the printhead it might power up, sometimes that is caused by a bad printhead. If not that light indicates a bad main logic board and it's cheaper to buy a new printer.

Canon MP210

Are you referring to one of the three lights just below the LED? If one light has a "B" (black) next to it and another a "C" (color), these lights indicate that you have no ink (or are low). Have you installed both cartridges into the machine? If they are both installed, the light would indicate that the color cartridge has run out of ink.
