Remove the battery and run of the mains. Most likely that the battery is faulty and causing all the components to run slowly.

Can you be more specific? Which pointer we talking about? Is it the mouse pointer? Have you got an external mouse or using the touch pad? If so, go to Control Panel and check if it is enabled, it may be off...

I want to use a external monitor keyboard mouse and close the lid and keep working on the computer

I'm not sure if you'll be able to close the lid because you might need a laptop that is designed to work with a docking station to do that.

Anyway, you can hook an external monitor, usb keyboard, and usb mouse to the laptop and continue working as usual.

Acer 5570z keyboard is locked..Mouse works fine. Tried it in safe mode..keyboard still wont work..but mouse will...Even reloaded the operating system and keyboard still doesnt work..

Hook an external keyboard to the laptop, if okay! replace the laptop keyboard. If no change check bios setting to make sure the laptop is not disabled, and reset bios to factory default.

My mouse pointer keeps making my page zoom in and out and then goes and sticks so i cant move it

This appears to be caused by a malfunction of the mouse (device or connection), or a stuck key(s) on your keyboard. First try to replace the mouse (device) with another one to see if this still happens, and/or the keyboard (by using an external keyboard), to find out what component is causing the problem.

Laptop Touch Pad will not work

if you plug usb keyboard onto your laptop it will probably turn the touch pad off.
If no other keyboard is attached there is usually a switch to turn off the touch pad.
also if you attach a mouse this may disable the touchpad so you dont move the mouse pointer when you are typing

Compaq notebook laptop: my mouse pointer or arrow is

If you have a manual for the notebook, check to see if you can use the function key and the similarly coloured key on the keyboard which enables/disables the touch pad. Usually you can disable the mouse pointer touch pad with this FUNCTION key + MOUSE key when pressed together. Often these keys have the same colour (usually blue). The purpose is to disable the touch pad when you are using an external USB or wireless mouse, then you press the 2 keys again together to enable the touch pad once you have removed the USB/wireless mouse.

If that doesn't work, borrow a USB mouse and attach it to your notebook to use temporarily while you diagnose the problem.

Mouse running away

Does this model have both the touchpad AND the little eraser-head pointer affixed in the keyboard?

If so, wiggle the eraserhead pointer thoughout its entire range of motion several times. Don't be afraid of it.

No eraserhead?

Your touchpad is defective. Replace, or disable it in the bios and use an external touchpad or optical mouse. Get one that has a USB plug.
