That can be cause by a bad coil, or regulator, a bad ignition module or fuse, or a bad connection to any of the above. A faulty crank position or bank angle sensor as well. Do you have a multimeter ? You will need one to trace the problem, but first check all your fuses and connections starting at the battery

How do you check oil level in a 2001 Harley Davidson Sportster

There should be a removable plug in th oil tank. Jut pull it out and look in, the oil level should be just below the neck of the hole the plug goes in.

Starter removal

It's quite a process to remove a starter on a sportster. I changed one for my friend on his 03 sportster. You have to take alot of stuff off to get to the bolts that hold it on. Can I suggest getting a service manual for the bike. Trust me it's worth its weight in gold. I've done alot of work on my sportster and my friends sportster and would never attempt anything without the book. As far as the starter, From what I remember, I had to remove the exhaust pipes then the primary cover, and I'm sure there were more parts, but you need to know what gaskets you will need to replace. Good Luck. And go get the book. I got mine at Barnes and Noble. and my friend got his at the Harley dealer. Have fun.

Bike Won't Fire

Timing is off. If the timing isn't exactly right it will turn over until the battery goes dead or the starter burns up (which ever comes first). The fuel/air mixture has to be ignited, expelled from the engine, etc. for the bike to run.

2006 HARLEY SPORTSTER 1200 LOW

If you're talking about dieing at an idle, you can increase the idle slightly to keep this from happening. Do not increase it too much, Harley's are not designed for high idle.
