i keep trying to update my ps3 so i can go online but it keeps coming up with error 80710723 and says a connection 2 the server cannot be established sometimes it only updates 2 i percent an sometimes it goes up 2 26 percen5

  • Anonymous Jan 10, 2009

If I was to log on to the net from my PS3 I can so that. If I do an innernet connection test it will connect to the net. It is just with Rockband 2 that I get the error code (80710723). I need HELP!!

  • ktjones1985 Jan 29, 2009

but the error message I'm receiving is 80710723 "connection to the server cannot be established". The post you linked to refers to different error messages, so I'm not sure if that solution would work or not. It's weird, because it won't let me go online until I download the new update. But whenever I try to download the new update I get this error message. What's even more strange is that I will get part way into the download (5%, 8%) before getting the error. So it's not like it can't "establish" a connection, it seems like it has a connection but then loses it for some reason. However, the signal strength to the PS3 and internet connection through my computer remain stable at all times....

  • rocheteay Feb 03, 2009

I have the same issue. I am trying to perform the update and after 5% + or - an error 80710723 appears and stops the download despite internet strength is 100%

I my settings I left the IP address as Do not use... is this the problem? if yes what IP address I shall use

    Tnx in advance

This same problem happened to me awhile ago. The way I fixed it was I went under settings to network settings. Then went down to media server connection and disabled that. Once I did that I had no trouble at all updating games. Hope this helped :)

I too went into "network settings" on my PS3 and disabled the "media server" connection. Worked like a charm!

This is a common error. Check you network connection setting on you PS3. That should tell you the ip you are using. To enable DMZ log into your router through your browser ussually to do this the address is http://192.168.0.1/. You will be asked a password and username. Most cases it is "admin" and password is left blank unless someone has changed it. Also with your PS3 connected the router will tell you the assigned ip address under wireless connections. You have a few solutions for the 80710723 error -

  1. Try using a wired Internet connection.
  2. Disable the 'Media Server' in your settings menu. (System Options/Network Settings)
  3. Manually update from Sony using a USB drive.
Check out this article here for a full and in-depth guide to doing this, plus a video guide.

What I did to stop this error was to go from my wired connection to the wireless connection and during the setup I disabled UPnP and I was able to complete the system update that I was needed to Play COD5.

This worked for me, I just bought my ps3 on 30/12/09 and it would not link to my wireless network even when it found my wireless network (netgear) with the network key entered. I began to scratch my head looked on the internet and gathered some ideas, now I'm no network nerd but this is what I did- firstly you'll need to beg borrow and steal an Ethernet cable plug it into your PC or already connected wireless laptop and internet, then plug it into your PS3, then scroll across to settings and then system update you will then download straight onto your PS3 with software version 3.15. I guess there is some kind of fix for wireless in there and now it connects to the internet as it didn't before.

The playstation 3 does not work with certain games saying there is an error on the router (error code: 80710723) How can we open more ports on the router? Thanks for your help

Generally what happens is that progress will stall whilst you are trying to update the firmware or software/games on your PS3, causing it to be corrupted. Your console is then unable to function properly, and you are left trying to "pick up the pieces" as it were. The PS3 error 80710723 is one of these system update errors, and is often experienced by gamers who use wireless connections to update their firmware or games.

So how can you fix PS3 system update error? Here are a few steps you can take to try and fix the 80710723 error code yourself.

  1. In your System Options/Network Settings you need to go and disable a setting called "media server". Doing this has been reported to fix the PS3 system update error in a number of different cases.
  2. If you are using a wireless network connection then switch to a wired connection and attempt to update your console. Wireless connections can have interference, or fail from time to time. Therefore it is better to use a wired Internet connection where possible.
  3. As a last ditch resort you can actually download the update from the Sony website onto your PC, then load that update onto a USB stick and plug it into your PS3 and carry out the update process from there. However, it is best to actually try and fix your connection problems first.

Wot error is 80710723????

You have a network/router error. First go to settings, then Network settings, then internet connection settings. If you have a wired connection connection 1 - Custom, then manual settings, then auto detect, then automatic, then Do not set, then manual, DNS1 : 208.67.222.222 , DNS2 : 208.67.220.220, then auto, then do not use, then enable.
If you are using a wireless connection 2 - WIRELESS > ENTER MANUALLY > ( ENTER SSID OR CONTINUE ) > ( CHOOSE SECURITY OR CONTINUE ) > CUSTOM > AUTO > DO NOT SET > MANUAL ( DNS1 : 208.67.222.222 , DNS2 : 208.67.220.220 ) > AUTO > DO NOT USE > ENABLE > X > X
and if neither of these works then try turning off your modem for a few minutes and restarting your ps3 =)
