Problem for Maytag Atlantis MAV6000 Top Load Washer
Necklace stuck in washer
a neclace got stuck in our washing machine. down under the thing in the middle that rotates the clothes around in the water. the cross i haning out but the chain is stuck tightly.
i tried to pull on it but it won't budge. i can't get my fingers under the big cylinder thingy (sorry have no idea of the technical terms).
should i just cut the chain and leave it, or does it need to be taken apart?

Hold the bottom part of the Agitator,(The part that you are talking about),Undo the very top part in an anti-clockwise direction and it will come right off.Use a wrench to remove the nut on the top of the agitator and then lift it right out,you may need to move it from right to left.You will now be able to remove the necklace.Replace the Agitator the reverse of removal.
