Question about Lexmark Color JetPrinter Z65 Pro InkJet
Had printer 18 months. Has been working well. Running with XP home. Suddenly getting horizontal lines through print lines and print page appears elongated ie: one page now 1.5 pages. Paper feed seems erratic. Test page seems ok slight change in last line. Have changed cartridges, paper, reloaded software. Have cleaned cartridge contacts and contacts on printer. Checked USB connections. Any suggestions besides the obvious.

i just fixed this problem. first i bought a new (remanufactured 3rd party) cartridge off ebay and found it wasn't working either.
there are cartridge cleaning instructions in the troubleshooting help section that show you how to carefully wipe clean your cartridges. follow that, it solved my problem.

SOURCE: Lexmark Z45 printer won't print
I am the same user as the guest above, I just found a solution. I took mine apart. I found that (when looking at the unit from the front with the cover off with the gears on the left) the 3rd gear from the bottom left had a crack in it. It was the gear that turns the 4 large round rubber cylinders from underneath the paper. Anyway, I kept turning on/off until the crack was on top and then I dropped a drop of Super Glue (red cap version for use on Rubber/Plastic/etc.). I put a little pressure on it using 2 thin screwdrivers in the gear teath to compress it but in looking back I don't think that was necessary. I think the crack in the gear was causing mine to slip so just making it solid again helped enough to make one work like normal again. I'll see how long this holds up. Good Luck. Scott.

Seemes very daft, and sounds like a twit, but not really.
When I recieved the new cartridge I placed it in the correct cartridge retainer in the printer matching up the dark green colour of the cartridge and the top clip, and it printed nothing even after a tryed re-seating it.
So I placed it in the other thinking maybe I somehow might have placed it in the wrong slot, so I placed it in the other (Colour), and set that up as I did the other, and it printed a blurred page but then stopped printing.
After that I then placed it back in the other cartridge retainer, set it up as the previous times when it did not work, and then it worked.
Seems strange and simple, but it did not work the first time at all, and after faffing with it finally did.
This might help someone, and then again might not.

SOURCE: Paper does not feed from Tray 1.
Check your printer settings.
Sometimes if your printer or the program you are printing from has the paper source set to "Letter" it waits for you to press the continue key on the printer which allows you to insert headed note paper before printing.
If it is set to letter, change it to A4 and this should solve your problem
You may need to change this in both the printer settings and/or each program from which you are printing

The problem sounds like your rollers have lost their grip. Remove the paper tray and tip the printer up. Push the red lever on the left of the printer down and you will see the feed mechanism with two wheels. Remove the rubbers on the wheels and turn them inside out. Replace them on the wheels with the worn side now inside and the 'sticky" side out. You should get at least another couple of years worth of use before you need to replace them.
