7.0 Pro now slower than before

I have been running Adobe 7.0 Pro with Windows XP for years. Recently, the program has started to slow, particularly when I email drawings. Typing text in the message is very slow and unresponsive. I often have to wait for the program to catch up with me. Is there some setting I should adjust?

Do this:
1. Exit Acrobat.
2. Choose Start > Run, and type: %APPDATA%\Adobe\Acrobat\ into the Open text box. Click OK.
3. Right-click either the 6.0 or 7.0 folder, and choose Delete.

SOURCE: adobe reader error message

It is possible that somewhere along the line adobe reader became conflicted with an update from something else ect.

First thing you should try is uninstalling adobe reader completely in add/remove programs. Then Install the latest version of adobe reader.

This should put an end to the error messages and restore functionality to normal.

Hi. You'll be better off downloading and installing the tryout for Adobe Indesign than PageMaker. InDesign is the improved version of PageMaker and it can open your old PM7 files. With your current PC specs, you can definitely run that software.

Requirments working too slow

You may need to do some "housecleaning". You probably have to many running processes. There are many Freeware programs to use to clean up and disable all unnecessary programs. All programs that start with windows will slow down the Laptop. Most are unnecessary and should be Shut down until needed. Two freeware programs to help are , 1, CCLEANER: http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ This will remove the junk, use cleaner and registry, configure, scan, delete. In the TOOLS section , select STARTUP, disable ALL unnecessary Startup programs to speed up starts and running, the more that's running in background the slower your machine will be. Your specs are minimal at best, you need to "lighten the load" on the processor and the memory. Uninstall ALL unnecessary programs, junkware, toolbars, extensions, etc. on your web browsers. 2, MALWAREBYTES: http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ This freeware programs will remove any malware, and other nasties. In the install, UNCHECK the Trial Pro version, you want the freeware version, run a FULL scan, delete ALL results, reboot. Here are more tips to speed up Windows 7: http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/10things/10-ways-to-speed-up-windows-7/3332 Usually the machine slows due to the owner's input and the owner can speed it up doing some routine maintenance.

Slow start up and non respnding programs with my windows xp 2002 service pack 2, Hp Compaq nx 6120. Can I upgrade my system to windows 7 ?

You may meet the hardware requirements, but performance depends on configuration. This is an older model, and may run even slower than XP. Don't forget the drivers. You may be forced to rollback if Win 7 does not support them.

HP COMPAQ 6510b RUNS SOOO SLOW

My recommendation: Install XP.
Well, not that there actually something wrong, but it initially came with XP or Vista. It depends. HP puts it a XP. Check your MS Product key sticker.

It is a simply determination that the laptop just does not have a enough resources to run Win 7 effectively. How do I know, I am using an HP 2.3GHz with XP. I tried Win 7 awhile back and immediately removed it. If fact, I do clean install of XP at least once a year. I do test more software than most.

Here is my Slow Windows Machine! default fix.
  • Sounds like not enough resources such as RAM and CPU. Check Performance in Task-Manager (CTRL-ALT-DELETE).
  • Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig. Startup tab and uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running. This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when you initiate.

Oh yea, in your case disable AREO, and u
se a virus protection with a smaller footprint. Like MS Security Essentials. My PC just couldn't handle McAfee or the likes.

Unique customer Registration for MYOB Plus 11 I used MYOB 7 for years, and it worked all the way up to Windows 7 - now it won't even start. Its time to leave. I have a copy of MYOB Plus 11 that seems to...

Or, just get a version of windows 7 (look for "Windows Anytime Upgrade" on your computer) that can run a virtual XP machine (Pro or Ultimate versions), then download and install the virtual PC hyper-viser kernal and the XP Mode virtual machine.

Next, install your old copy of MYOB 7 into the XP mode virtual machine, copy your data files, and it should work....

EXPLANATION OF "WHY": MYOB 7 was actually meant to run on windows 95/98 machines, and this wasn't a problem in XP, because it could run a program that would basically emulate all of the win95/95 API's, under which MYOB 7 could run. Starting with windows vista, those old API's and emulation programs were basically tossed. Running the program under a virtual XP machine will give your old programs, like MYOB 7, access to those old API's. BTW, once the program is installed, it should auto register with windows 7. After which it will run in the win 7 interface almost as if it were a native program (will take longer to load as it has to load XP OS too).

One note, any custom forms (invoices, etc) may not work after copying them to the new installation of MYOB. Change their file attributes from Read Only (uncheck that box from within the files' properties dialog, via windows file explorer).

Oh, you'll definitely want as much RAM in your computer as you can get in there. XP mode will take a minimum of 512MB, but it'll be slow unless you set it up for at least a gig of ram.

My dell inspiron mini 10 notebook using window 7 pro..why it always hang when i opened many application..

The Dell mini computer runs on a Intel Atom processor and has just 1GB of RAM on it.. So the computer is designed only for internet surfing and launching small applications.. Thats the reason it is called as a netbook.. It comes with win starter edition... It is not highly recommended running a win 7 pro on this machine.. It can be really slow on this Operating system... Thats the reason your computer is slow.. Try to run inbuilt cleaning like disk clean up to see if there is any iimprovements in speed.. Else switch the Operating system to win XP or Win 7 Starter

My 5 year old computer is getting slower and slower, takes 5 - 10 minutes to boot up in the morning, is slow to open up attachments and move from application to application.

Most likely due to low available disk space on the hard drive. Items like system restore and the fact that windows does not report partially used clusters as Used (If any part of a file is written to a cluster, that cluster is dedicated to that file regardless of how much is not being used, even though windows reports it free)

So freeing up disk space is one option.

You can also use applications like Advanced System Care to tune up your system
