We bought new batteries, it is charged up and it turns on, all the light blink like they should, but the joystick wont do anything. We checked all the connections, all the fuses are good. We called a person that works on these chairs at a company and it is $60 just for him to look at it. He says the joystick probably needs re-programing. Can't we do that ourselves? Can you tell us how to do that without it costing so much? Our mother is in a nursing home and she needs that chair desperately. Anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for anything you can do.
One thing you can do, it is reading between the lines of the manual.

Put the chair in drive mode, shut it down. Then disconnect the batteries, depending how it is wired, either one or both of the negative terminals should be disconnected. Keep the joystick and other items plugged in. Let it sit for a moment. Then reattach the battery terminals. And see if that corrects it. If it does not, the company would have to send a tech out to calibrate the joystick again. I am sure it would be something of a liability issue if they put that information freely into their manuals.

I just had the same problem with my uncle's power chair. The number of "blinks" indicates a problem code to the technicians. My chair needed the joystick control assembly replaced. Once replaced, evrything was back to normal. 'Not a cheap fix but much needed. Good luck my friend!!

a 7 Flashe code. There is a joystick fault. Make sure the joystick is in the center position and then power off and on again. Check all your couplings. make sure when turning on the unit you only mash the power button for 1 sec. 2-3 sec will put the unit in "Lock out mode".
This ierror will also be present if the joystick is off center when powered up. If you experience these symptoms, you must first make sure there is no physical damage to the joystick preventing it from returning to the center position. Then turn the power off and back on again (making sure the joystick is not depressed in any direction. If the joystick repeats this error, the controler much be replaced. [email protected]

The chair is in lock mode. To unlock, turn on, when the lights start to scroll, push the joystick forward and keep it there until you hear the beep. When it beeps, pull it back and wait for the beep, once the beep sounds let go and listen, if you hear a high pitch beep, success. If it doesn't work the first time, just do it again. Sometimes it may not work right away but don't panic, just follow the steps again.
