Question about Whirlpool Ultimate Care II LSQ9549L Top Load Washer
Washer was functioning, we smelt an electrical burning smell and when the washer stoppen the adjitation portion of the cycle, it stopped. No spin or rinse. Also, as the spin cycle did not function the water remained in the tub. The motor still works for the adjitation, just nothing happens for the rinse or spin. I guess the question is which electrical part is the problem. the capacitor, the Switch on the motor or the saftey switch at the top of the tub. They all appear to be in good shape no visiual burn marks etc.
Well you can check the capacitor with a meter for farads, but it sounds like you have a clutch and/ or gearcase failure causing the motor to overheat. The second thing to do is unplug the washer and check the timer. I would right after the agitation to inspect for heat and burnt connections.
