I have exactly the same problem. The USB to the GPS makes the noises but it soon tells me that the connection has failed. I am taking it back tomorrow and getting another one. I don't know is this has anything to do with it but I am running Windows Vista Home Premium w/ SP1.

Interesting problem. It's affecting quite few folk.

Changing the GPS won't solve the problem. It something related to your particular OS and its installed applications.

Useful forum here with lots of discussion on this Tevion model.

I have the same problem and TempoAustralia are giving me the runaround and say that you must 1st place your music onto a SD Card before you can play them in your PWM-3501. Even though the manual says you can load data into the GPS unit.

You can connect with a 35mm jack from the headphone socket to the aux port. This works but obviously you won't get the details of tracks on the radio screen.

KVT 819DVD navigation Icon works but does not launch navigation blue screen - I have to hit the "V" button 3 times to get the navigation. Shouldn't the NAvigation Icon automatically launch the gps system?...

Ensure that NAV is set to auto. To set it up you have to access the user setup menu. To access that you would have to press the FNC button and look for the wrench Icon and scroll down until you get to user interface. Also keep in mind, whatever screen that you are viewing before you shut your vehicle off is the screen that is going to pop back up once you start your vehicle up again. Let me know if this works for you.
