Question about Gateway (4000811) Motherboard

1 Answer

Gateway Computer The flat screen display shows a CVI error. Thought it might be a bad video card. Called Gateway. The tech rep had me open the CPU and the mother board had a red light illuminated on the board. Does that really mean the board is "inop". They want me to buy a new computer since the mother board is only $100 less than a new CPU.

My monitor turns pink regularly and flickers. Did a self test of monitor which came out fine. Gateway tech rep told me I need a new mother board because the video card is integrated into the mother board. Also said that Gateway doesn't sell parts any more so I will have to find a distributor which sells parts - haven't been able to locate one who carries motherboards for model 300x

CVI error is a visual interface error, most likely a graphics card built onto the syetm board. However the motherboards are no longer available but there are a number of ways to upgrade this pc if all else in in good order.Contact for further support

Gateway lt2032u no display

Did you reboot the laptop to see if the display would show on the external monitor?

The video will showon most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systemswill require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold downthe FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thruF12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will havethe icon of a display.

If after the steps above the video does not show on either monitor, then your Video Card inside the computer is bad.

What dose it mean when screen says out of frequency

This error indicates that your video card resolution is set igher than the monitor can display. Try booting into safemode and changing the resolution.

Here is a link to the Gateway site spec page for that monitor.

http://support.gateway.com/s/MONITOR/7003943/700394318.shtml

The maximum resolution it will display is 1024 X 768 which is very low for current video cards, your card may not go that low. Check it if it does not go then you will need to get a new monitor that supports the resolution that your computer can put out.

When booting the screen says no signal and the it begins beeping intermedately

I think the graphics card has become unseated as the PC does not need a monitor to start up so there would be no beeps; Here is a list of beep codes with there meanings.

Unhooked and moved my computer to another part of my room and the monitor now comes on with the power saver display and button is blue, then power saver display goes off and button turns yellos light and...

Sounds as if your monitor is not receiving a signal from your video card. In all likelihood, the video card came unseated during the move. Open the case and re-seat the video card, that should do the trick.

Write back if that does not solve the problem.

No display, blue page error in unpaged area screen

unfortunately, its bad, I can think of three possibilities, bad ram, bad cpu, or bad graphics card, if its a bad cpu or bad graphics card, then unfortunately, its something really complicated to fix because its a laptop, the cpu is replaceable but its a really big hassle, the graphics card is usually on the motherboard, so its irreplaceable by it-self, but when it gets the bluescreen error, it will say an error like 0x000fe or some series like that, you can take that number, and go to microsoft.com, and search the error and it would most likely show you what the error is, if, it doesnt start at all, you can try testing the ram, or ram slots. Either replace the current ram, switch the ram from one slot to the other, or if it has two ram chips, remove one of them, and test them individually. Unfortunately, if this doesnt work, i would suggest taking it to a computer repair shop to test it, and possibly, but hopefully not, having to buy a new laptop.

here are pics of the ram modules:

Why won't my tv display my computer screen

Hi. The best way to hook your computers display to your LCD screen will be to use the VGA input socket. If your video card can support both S-video input and VGA, you can use either one but, the VGA is best for optimal resolution. This is the easy way to do this. Step one, connect the VGA cable to the computers video card and then, run the other end of this same cable to the VGA input slot on the LCD screen.Step 2, next you will make sure that the LCD's input selection is selected to show what is being transferred from the CPU video card by using the input button on the lcd remote control. The lcd(your tv) should be on VGA or PC input signal. Step 3, now, you Will have to also make sure that your video card is set to transfer this signal as well by pulling up your video cards software window and switch to the proper options. once this is done, you should get a signal. Be sure to use the VGA input/output ports on both the lcd television and your cpu for optimal transfer of the video stream. Here is a pic of your back panel. use the input port labeled I for good PC input quality.

Gateway E-4200, Pentium III, Win XP, Nothing Showing On Monitor

The beeps are usually an error code meaning either the RAM or video card has went bad or are not properly seated. Leaving it out as you did could have caused the parts to come unseated when you moved the unit. Try reseating the RAM & video card and then retry booting. Hope this helps & please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

No signal from computer to monitor 8/13/08!

I had the exact same problem!! Drove me crazy for days. Couldn't find any answers online, contacted Gateway tech support and they told me my warranty was expired but they'd be happy to discuss my issue for $2 per minute. Gateway can **** it!!

At first I thought the problem might be a malfunctioning NVIDIA card, a problem with my DVI cable, or the monitor itself. But, after turning off the computer, unplugging the DVI cable, replugging the DVI cable and restarting the computer, I noticed I could get the firmware flash screen to show, including the BIOS menu boot and the Gateway system reinstall screen to show. As soon as the Windows flash logo would display, however, the monitor would drop out and display the dreaded "No Signal" error.
This indicated the problem was a software one and not hardware! The cable, monitor and video card were all working fine. Then I remembered that Windows installed its automatic update a few days prior. In fact...

THE PROBLEM TURNED OUT TO BE A WINDOWS UPDATE INSTALLED A FEW DAYS PRIOR.

After succesfully booting into safe mode (F8 during the flash/bootup screens), I went to Add or Remove programs in the control panel, clicked on the "Show Updates" box on the top, and uninstalled the Windows update from a few days prior to the occurance of the error. After a reboot the problem was solved.

I hope this will help anybody else struggling with this error!

Display for about i second then black screen

Your Monitor might be shot. I would recommend you try another VGA Cable and 3 prong Power cable since it could be the cable as well . If you are still experience the image going black then the power inverter internally could be damaged and its not as easy as a simple backlight because if you are using the flashlight and no image is showing you are worse than I thought. I would recommend you try those two things and then also if you can try to connect it to another Computer who knows it could possibly be your desktop too like the video card going bad ?. If you dont have another computer try a laptop or a TV with the VGA option on them. Hope my answer gets you closer to a solution. Please Help rate me if I helped you out or not I am new but a very good tech.

NO SIGNAL INPUT - message

Hi Rick,
Most common cause of this error is when the video signal cables are knocked off rendering the connection from the monitor to the CPU loose. Turn off the PC and secure all connections. Have you had your computer moved or repaired where you need to remove connections? Some PCs have more than one video cards (video output) and you may have connected it in the wrong video port. You can isolate the problem further by connecting your CPU to a known working monitor (office, freind's, neighbor, 2nd home PC). The other way is to isolate the problem is to connect your problematic monitor to a known working PC and see if video will be displayed. If video is present, your CPU's video card has gone bad or the contacts are not seated properly in the slot. Best Regards
