Question about Washing Machines

Maytag Epic Z

I bought my Epic Z washer in April of this year. I told the salesman I lived on the second floor in a condo and needed something that was quiet and that would operate with no shaking on the second floor. A few months later, I have had a service dept out three times, as there is a horrible vibration in the washer and it 'walks' around my laundry room when it spins. The service men seem to be stumped, the applicance store has done nothing, Maytag says it's an unstable floor. So am I out $2000? This has been extremely frustrating.

I have the same problem. My washer is on the top floor of my home and it vibrates a lot. The vibrations is noisy and shakes the entire up stairs. I have have it for about four months and now the belt has broken. I am curious to know whether the excessive vibration caused it the break so soon.

We have the same problem. Extreme vibration on the ramp up spin. We have fought this out with the retailer and now Maytag has said it is issuing a new installation kit for this machine. Apparently the washer/dryer have to be separated.
Trust me, It is not your floor, it is not your fault. It is a defective washer. They also replaced the bellows.
clothes are not clean, mold odor and shakes all over the place.I thought the dryer was going to come off the top of our stacked pair.
don't give up and don't let them tell you it's your fault. It is not.
and BTW, the vibration pads do not help this issue.

I have the same problem with excessive shaking and I just had the repairman here and he told me that the only fix was to put it on concrete! My floor is 3/4 inch tongue grooved plywood with 1/4 inch concrete board with tile on that. I have no concrete to put it on. I know I will never recommend a Maytag front load washer to anyone.

Do you if these gadgets work with pedestals. I bought the Maytag pedestals for both washer and dryer.

It is not the washer/dryer. I have the Epic Z stacked...in my laundry room which is concrete is the perfect solution. It does not jump like you suggest.....the problem is that most floors not in the basement are not built for laundry facilities....my husband has been in the biz for 30+ years and he is adamant, to this day, all washers and dryers should be in the lower level on a concrete floor.

I have the EpicZ set, its on concrete and vibrates horrible. Dances all over the floor. We have done everything in our power to correct, even used door stops and supports to keep this washing machine in place. Nothing works. Very reputable appliance repair man told us to save our money and replace as these units are known for this and he could come out and work on it but it would most likely be cheaper for us to replace. He has worked on these many times and says they have a poor history! Don't waste your money, regarless where you will be putting it in your home, concrete or not, basement or not.

Check under the machine and locate the adjustable feet. Screw the feet in as far as practical, the further the better. Feel the machine for steadiness and rocking and adjust the foot that shows clearance until it is firmly on the ground and the machine no longer rocks. Check that machine to see if it is level, with a front loader this is not critical, but it should rather not be out of true by a large amount, the important thing is that there must not be any movement on the machine's feet and the machine should not stand too high on its feet either.

Yes the seal might need replacing. but in my experience a simple strand of hair caught on the seal will make it leak. So i suggest that you try thoroughly cleaning the seal fist. If its needs to replaced, its not that difficult, but its kind of tricky. Check if your machine is still under warranty by contacting the manufacturer. hopefully it is and they will change for you for free. If its not under warranty let me know and i'll try my best to give you detailed instructions on how to change it.

Shakes wildly and loudly in spin cycles

The bearing has gone bad and will need to be replaced. It is located towards the back of the machine and so the back panel will have to be removed to access it.

Got much noisier over time

Hello Hunting2000 the noise could be several things. If you heard what is water hitting against the inner door, try aranging the dishes so that the water is hitting the dishes and not the door. I assume however this isn't the noise you are talking about. Sometimes over time the wash arms themselves will start to make noise. This is from wear. Yes less than a year sounds like a short time. This could have been there from the start. I would call Bosch Customer Support and see if they will pay for a 2nd opion. This well could be the wash arms causing this. Espically the top one not sealing proper and allowing water to hit the front. Hope this helps.
