Why is my totaline thermostat flashing fd and not working

Factory Default. Your thermostat is halfway through the factory reset procedure for some reason. Check out the cheat sheet here:
http://www.totaline.com/dl/stat_setup_cheat_sheet.pdf
DON'T FORGET TO REPROGRAM YOUR THERMOSTAT SO IT WILL ACT THE WAY YOU WANT IT TO AFTER IT IS RESET!

If you don't know how to, just look at the cheat sheet cited above or find the model number (inside the case) and search google for an operation guide.

Blower motor does not shut off after burner goes off

High temperature limit may have tripped. It should reset when cooled but may have failed and will not reset. You could also have a manual reset limit safety which needs to be reset.

Codes

Flashing E-1 means your thermistor, a device attached to your thermostat that detects room temperature is shorted or broken. Replace or rewire thermistor. First turn power off to it. Second, clean air filter or replace if worn. Third, hit the reset button or scroll through menu until you find reset to factory settings. If no button or menu to scroll through unit then keep unplugged for 8 hrs to reset it. After that plug back in and power on and see if the e1 goes away. If not I recommend having it serviced. Also the owners manual is saying no pipe check operation check, try operating in auto addressing mode without pipe check. Sloution to check setting. Check piping connection and setting.

We have a programmable thermostat (Honeywell), but we usually don't use the programmable part. We just turn it up and down manually. Today it will not go up. We must have accidentally pressed something,...

Thermostats come with a factory default program. Take the battery's out so the thermostat is completely dead for a few minutes. Nothing on the screen. As if you just took it out of the box, brand new. Give it a few minutes to be sure all the little capacitors have discharged. Power it up again and the factory settings should take over. Its sounds like you were using those all along. Please let me know if it works out for you. If you need me to get factory information, please give me the model number on the back of the thermostat. Thank you. Roger

I have several Mitsubishi Electric wall thermostats in my home. They operate two R-410A Mitsubishi CITY MULTI PUMY S-Series Systems. The thermostats will not go below 68 in some rooms and 70 in others....

If there is any option in your thermostat "Limit temp function" press 5 seconds continuously. Then reset it as you like.

Second way of trying is remove batteries/power from your thermostat and reset it. Now you can set as u like.

When we have a power bump the unit reverts back to factory settings, Can a ups be added to the control board to eliminate this problem?

Not sure why your unit would reset to factory settings, it's usually the thermostat settings that control the unit and resets when you have a power failure. Most thermostats have a battery in then to power the thermostat during a power failure. They usually only maintain the power from 15 to 30 minutes to maintain your settings, before defaulting back to factory settings. After every power failure you usually have to replace the batteries.

Unti wont keep set temp, it actually keeps changing the temp. itself..either 60 or 90..like it has a mind of its own. Is there a reset option or is it just done

These temperatures are generally associated
with default (factory) values. Programmable
thermostats have batteries/capacitors to retain
program memory during power outages.
Check batteries/power supply. Switch fan on at t-stat to verify control voltage. Program
t-stat and restore operation.
Please also check low voltage connections
for tightness (power off).

Assumed all the wiring are correct,

to change from manual switching from heat to cool, press [system] button ( left ) to go into system setting.

then press and hold the [fan] middle button untill option display 120

use up down button to select option 300 ( Manual/Autochangeover) ,

select 0 for manual, 1 for automatic. ( read caution in page 22 of installation manual )

Good luck
