Question about Alesis Monitor One Mk2 Speaker

Mk2 speakers Wont come on with power. Light not on. Matching speaker works ok

Same exact problem as the other guy - one of the speakers just stopped turning on without any previous problems.

I opened up the speaker and switched the fuse from the one that didn't work with the one that did, and it didn't change anything.  It's not the fuse.

Also, my friend who is good with electronics said that the transformer was getting power, even though the speaker itself wasn't working.

It's probably blown tweeters. But if you want to spend the money on a hipshot guess, try to find the the crossovers somewhere first; then find the readily available tweeters if/when that doesn't work out. Google "alesis monitor one MK2 tweeter".

You could test the tweeters by just removing one non-functional tweeter and wiring it directly to the speaker leads and with REALLY LOW volume containing NO BASS see if it makes any sound, which would prove it does/does not work.

Going forward, if the speakers sound stressed at high volume - THEY ARE. Too much power or too much distortion (overdriven amplifier) will kill speakers.

Jvc rx 703b repair--I was playing on a technic sl mk2 turntable made a loud noise then went out on one speaker then later the other

Hello
Your Amps' output section has shorted. Don't connect any other speaker to it, till it has been repaired. It will burn out it too. In some sets this section will be of transistors, and in others, an IC will be used. Anyway it has shorted and has to be replaced. OK.

How do i go about connecting the alesis monitor one mk2's to my my laptop? i do not have an amp and there are no cables or connectors with the speakers when they arrive

You can without an amp in between. They are non-powered speakers and need an amp to drive them. If you connect your laptop to a mixer, mixer to an amp, then amp to speakers THEN they will work.

When ii turn the speakers on the blue light just keep flickeriing band no sounds is coming through

Check all connections and also make sure the polarity of your speakers are correct,(+ to + , - to -), look to see if you have used the speaker output for sound also. Sometimes the plugs look the same but go to different outputs.

One speaker fell ... no sounds ?? can it be

Hello,

Most likely, if the LED is still functioning on the speaker, then an internal connection has simply come loose. If you use a screwdriver to remove the woofer (the large speaker) you will gain access to the inside. You should be able to both easily see the loose connection and reach it to plug it back in.

A little less likely, but also possible is that a part of the internal circuitry is broken. But, usually in those cases, the light stops working as well.

I hope this helps.

Alesis M1 Active Mk2 Speaker won't Power Up

Hi, This is usually the Capacitor C8 on the powerboard it usually bulges and pops, its becuase its right next to a resistor which gets very hot and sometimes puts the capacitor into meltdown, yours might have gone past that stage but this is worth a look; http://www.neufeld.newton.ks.us/electronics/?p=232

Hope this helps

You need to take a closer look really, see if anything on the power supply board inside has melted, burned, popped, etc.
